Cyanide Confusion

I'm sure this is already discussed here somewhere, but I am brand-new here and don't know how to look. Could someone summarize for me the best form of cyanide to obtain, if it is horribly expensive, and the amount I would need to take to absolutely ensure that I die? I am seventy, having terrible health problems, and just need out, like my mother did at 64. My few friends hate me now because I am so sick and they are tired of hearing about it. I have no family and am all alone. I have seven suicide attempts to my record, the first when I was 7 years old, the second when I was nine. Obviously, this is how I am meant to go. But I just can't fail again. Cyanide in the right form and amount seems like a sure thing. Ten years ago I spent eight days and nights unconscious and alone--and even THAT failed, as my neighbor the medic showed up just in time to helicopter me to a Trauma Center. God, but I hated him, well-meaning as he was! Please help--thank you!

On the upper right of the screen you'll see a magnifying glass, that's the search function, click on that and type in cyanide and you'll get results for all the times it's been mentioned.

It's not a popular method because it's very difficult to obtain. But there are lots of other methods. On the main Suicide Discussion page, you'll see at the top there are several stickied or pinned threads, the ones that never move. Look at the Resources Compilation thread, you'll see there is information for a lot of different methods.

Thank you for answering me. I thought that the right amount of cyanide would take care of you in two minutes. I thought that was why the military gives pills in little tubes they can stash in their cheeks to all their fighting troops in case they get captured, or wounded beyond recovery. Not true? I pretty much know and have tried everything else by now...

Is it really so hard to obtain? I just got apricot kernels, you can get poisoned thanks to them, it wasn't hard to get them.

I've seen apricot kernels come up on the forum and not heard of any success. You can use the site search for apricot to see discussions.

Actual cyanide for poisoning is difficult to obtain.

Ah, I'm not OP. I don't need finding the apricot method now, because I already tried it and consumed too little

Depends on your weight honestly. You can find charts on the Internet where you see how much of cyanide would put down a person of which weight. But there tend to be a larger range, so sometimes it might be risky and you might just get into coma or something like that.

When it comes to cyanide, there are no experts. Even the taste is speculative, as no one lives long enough to describe it. What is certain is that death is instantaneous.

Death is neither instantaneous nor peaceful and depends on gastric contents, liquid consumed, and can greatly vary in duration. I'd refer you to the individual who committed suicide in a US court after an arson conviction.

there is plenty of bad information in movies and tv that apparently serves as a basis for some individuals perceptions. Even the suicide capsules used by the Germans in WW2 were far from instant, and these were not cyanide salts but rather concentrated hydrocyanic acid solutions. Himler's death was described as taking 10-15 minutes with his final moments in convulsions.

The taste issue is moot, as it is so easy to avoid. I generally avoid providing information, as some cyanide threads read in a peculiar manner that could be interpreted as...nefarious.

Why anyone would be attempting to obtain cyanide when better items are available over the counter is beyond me

Yeah, the more I find out about that guy Hitler the more I don't like him.

opinions are lovely, facts are better. The nearly 40 minutes required in some gas chamber executions with a prisoner conscious for most of that belies the peacefulness and speed. as for your last question, I bet if you read the megathread you would find the answer to your question.

Depends on the dose. For lower doses, and especially swallowing cyanide, is definitely not instant.

I think cyanide gas is much quicker

As you note, the cyanide salts aren't the issue and must be concerted to HCN in the stomach for lethality, and this can result in a highly variable absorption and time to death.

I'm not sure why some of the gas chamber executions in the US took so long, but they did. Short of injection, the Prussic acid capsules used in WW2 would have been about as fast as possible with buccal and sublingual absorption along with inhalation of any vapors

You cud try sodium nitrite. It's cheap and a peaceful means to end your life
