I believe its lethal but takes around 24-72 hours.

I've heard this is a very painful way to go, due to organ failure and the crystallisation in your kidneys. You will end up drunk at first, then your organs will fail over days - that's if you don't get found first.

Well, it will blow out your kidneys snd kill you. It will not do it right away. Being slowly poisoned from within is not a great way to go. A rope costs as much and takes you out almost immediately.

The alcohol would counteract the antifreeze

I live in Finland and in my hometown a couple committed suicide by drinking ethylene glycol. I don't know how painful the way, but slow at least.
