As we know, it is now Thanksgiving Day in the US (as of the writing of this vent article) and also Christmas is not too far away with only a month away. Anyways, during this time of the year, and even during specific times of the year (namely holidays and certain times of the year, seasons, etc.), many CTB preventionists often use statistics and scour for signs of potential CTB attemptors in order to thwart, frustrate, or otherwise prevent the very action. They do not attempt to understand the "why" as to the cause of someone wanting or willing to CTB, but just merely the action itself.

Of course, this may be preaching to the SaSu choir and many already know, but it seems like they often oversimplify, dismiss, invalidate, or otherwise overlook the actual causes for why someone may be willing to CTB and only look at the consequence of suffering in a world where life is unconditionally and fervently worshipped (a pro-life, anti-choice society and world that we live in). In this venting article, I will make two points in this little article (one is a major point and the other is a minor point, which the latter will be addressed a bit more further in detail in another thread or even a megathread) as I think there is some overlap of the topic at hand.

So the major point and premise of this thread or vent is basically about how CTB Preventionists will always scour for signs and even moreso during specific times of the year or at certain events, while of course, failing to address or even look at why those attemptors are going through with their action of CTB'ing! It gets worse that they default to the dreadful three digit number as if that is an appropriate and heroic response towards someone who may be contemplating CTB rather than to talk about it. The elephant (or elephants, if one wishes to delve more into detail and complexity) in the room of course is the "why", which will vary from individual to individual due to varying circumstances and no two individual leads the same "exact" life. To be realistic, sure addressing the cause may be too costly, but if they couldn't (or rather wouldn't) address it, then they should leave it be, but of course, they won't and sadly, in a pro-life, anti-choice world, these preventionist conspire everyday to meddle, frustrate, and/or otherwise try to probe into what they believe or have reason to believe that said target may attempt CTB.

The other minor point that I will address in this rant is of course, the preventionists are mainly just out for their "ego" and protecting their worldview. This again, is no surprise and of course, their actions are still just as harmful as ever. In such a case, by that same logic, almost anyone could make some arbitrary (and subjective) standard for their worldview and impose it on these "pro-lifers, anti-choicers, preventionists, etc." though I am sure they would NOT like to have their own treatment used against them! Again, this is another point that I will address in another thread or even include as a point in a megathread of another topic, but I thought this was another interesting talking point to add onto.

In short, I know many people already most likely share the same or similar sentiments as I have and perhaps it is nothing new, but I thought I'd give my two cents and give a little pushback against the pro-life, anti-choice, prohibitionist hegemony of a society we exist in. I would say that in our world that we live in, especially given that fact that every passing day, week, month, or even year, it seems like the CTB preventionists only continue to double-down and dig their heels even deeper, and we can never be too careful with what we do IRL or online. Ideally, it is best to not give off any hints and of course, most of us on SaSu reject the narrative and false assumptions that mainstream society, normies, and moral busybodies (the preventionists, pro-lifers, anti-choicers, etc.) make of us.

I agree. If they want to prevent suicide they could just look at people who are suffering the most and of course many of them will go on to ctb because suicide isn't a disease. Sadly they would do absolutely anything but try to solve the problems suicidal people face, in fact they are extremely determined to make sure suicidal people suffer as much as possible and are treated without any empathy. The goal appears to be to crush the people will the problem so hard into the ground that it seems like no one has the problem. They are solving nothing, I guess that was never the point.

Good point and yes, it seems like most of the people who try to prevent CTB (the majority of course, not everyone though) are those who are looking to uphold the status quo and to make themselves feel like heroes. They don't like the fact that they are reminded about their own mortality and I highly doubt they really give it a thorough thought or examine why they (the preventionists) hold the beliefs that they do.
