So, ctb is in my future, that much is a fact. But only a few years down the line. Meanwhile, I have my wife, whom I love very much, to worry about. She's attached enough to me that when I go, she may go right after, and I don't want that (selfish, I know). I want her to cash in on my life insurance and move on.

So, I see two scenarios:

(a) I enjoy these next few years with her, ctb on her and risk a too-big trauma that can ruin her life, or

(b) I estrange myself from her, forcing a divorce that will greatly sadden us both, but when the time comes it will be sad news that she will get over.

The second option seems less selfish in a logical sense (I would be sharing the pain with her), but it *feels* wrong. I don't know which to choose, or if there is a third option that I'm not seeing (talking to her won't work, and just letting her ctb is out of the question).

Any help or thoughts are appreciated!
