On the days you feel like ctb, what alternative do you use? How do you prevent yourself?

I don't mean, going to therapy, or long term strategies. But on the spot, right then and there. You're ready, desperate and still decide not to.

Can be actions, thoughts, anything. Healthy, unhealthy, as long as it works to prevent c-ing the b.

I'll start:
I'll drown myself in streaming intense series. (Absentia anyone?)

Bite my nails until they bleed

Lay paralyzed on the sofa until something else comes to mind. (doesn't work when negative spirals are too active)

Eat, throw up, eat again.

I realize this process is different for some people, and with me it also depends on the season, sort of. Sometimes I plan weeks in advance, and sometimes it's a spurr of the moment thing. Having done a lot of research and prior planning, makes the latter a lot easier now. So this is for the spurr of the moment times. You have this urgent pressure that steers you towards ctb, but then... [fill in the blanks]

i either abuse substances, self harm, or distract myself with a screen (sometimes a combination of 1 and 3)

I want to ctb right now :)

I guess I'm just too tired to, or the lack of easy methods. Most methods need some sort of preparation.

And it'd be rude if I were to just leave right now.

I turn off the lights and turn on my 3 small lamps that are warm lights and wrap myself up in my blankets and I get high. Sometimes I'll take some extra Seroquel and gabapentin to make me tired

Daydreaming to escape the stresses of reality. I can't really stop and I just end up doing nothing all day, so i guess it is maladaptive? Sometimes i hit my head with my palm until it is hard to think anything at all.

Listen to music and playing online games I guess. Or mostly sit/lay still and just think, but sometimes it gets too overwhelming. I mostly just wait until it's night so I can go to sleep.
