Trans Girl
Mar 15, 2019

For about the past two weeks I've been considering if I'm an MtF transgender. I don't have a story like many transgender people where I liked girly things as a child, but something has been screaming that I might be transgender recently. I want to try an explore my gender more. I don't have any friends I could reach out too, not only are their views on general LGBT community more conservative but I've also said some not very tasteful things about the LGBT community (I don't have the same views anymore). What can I do to explore my gender more? I was thinking of joining communities and say I'm a girl and see how I feel about being called she/her.

Maybe you're neither m or f. Maybe your gender dysphoria will never go away, or maybe it will only once you figure out the gender unique to you. It might be on the spectrum between m & f; or it might be sui generis.

m to f, Boy are you in for a soul-crushing disappointment. Now everything you used to find fun is something you're supposed to be ashamed of, have fun sorting that out.

You're either one or the other, plus a mental/developmental/etc disorder or "alternative/unconventional" personality (i.e. a "feminine man" or whatever...). You can't just "feel like" a certain gender when nowadays the left has abstracted the concept of gender so far that it's been rendered undefined. This guy explains it perfectly.

Hope this helps you understand.

Liking girly/boyish things =/= trans. You can be any gender and like any gendered product or toy. If you have gender dysphoria (i.e. distressed at your natural sexed characteristics or just a simple desire to have the characteristics of the opposite sex) then get to a therapist. For the love of god don't start HRT right away. A therapist will help you sort out your feelings and figure out if you're trans or just a gender non-conforming guy (aka you're fine with your male anatomy but like to wear dresses n stuff). Good luck.

Hey, I'm trans MTF. I echo the words of @restingspot & @RainAndSadness

Explore yourself, It's a long process and an adventure. Be that through using female pronouns, experimenting with clothes, make up etc whatever makes you feel good. Reminder you don't need to like all the girly things society pushes on gender roles.

A therapist is a great step before taking HRT or blockers etc.

Trans healthcare at least in the uk is a bit of a nightmare of gatekeeping and waiting. So a lot of people DIY which isn't the best option, If you do go DIY be very careful and make sure to research and get blood tests done.

Oh you might also want to check out some of the trans subreddits and discords lots of information and loving people who can help you out.

Best of luck to you

With all respect but we don't need that here. I'm not even sure if the person that speaks in that video has any scientific background but considering he is talking about "debunking transgenderism", (as if transgender people wouldn't exist, right?) I don't think his words mean anything in this debate. I am transgender and I got diagnosed with the F.64.0 three times already by different psychiatrists. Psychiatrists with an expertise in this field and they evaluate you as a person with all the symptoms in a very skeptical manner.

As for scientific evidence, uhm - here.

Transgender people have a brain structure that resembles that of their desired gender. So in other words: Transwomen are women, neurologically speaking. Therefore they are at least partly also biological woman. That's the scientific stance in 2019. The brain structure, together with psychological factors is the fundamental of our gender identity. Studies like that were replicated over and over again in the last few years. This is not(!) controversial anymore. And all major health organizations on the planet agree with these studies:

The World Health Organization,
the American Medical Association,
the American Psychiatric Association,
the American College of Physicians,
the American Academy of Pediatrics,
the American Academy of Family Physicians,
the Association of Social Workers,
the Royal College of Psychiatrists
and the National Health Service.

They all released statements about transgender people over the last few years, in support of them. So whatever you believe to know about transgender people, it's probably wrong. Literally the entire scientific community of the free world with all the scientific evidence that came out in the last few years disagrees with you. I hope you do some unbiased research and re-think your opinion. I'm sorry I had to bring this up in this thread but I can't possibly let a video like this left unchecked, especially if it's from a very unscientific source.

I'm not trans, but my best friend is. One thing he did a bit of was going through blogs and vlogs of trans people, which was mostly helpful to him in terms of learning about medical transition. Everyday things you can do are dressing more feminine, using feminine language and mannerisms, and maybe going by a new name or using different pronouns with people you trust, or online. There are a lot of shades of femininity, so just go with whatever draws you, whether that's makeup, long hair, skirts, "uptalk", or whatever else. Gender exploration can be a lot of fun — I used to dress really butch in college, and it was liberating to play around with baggy, masculine clothes. There are a lot of fictional trans narratives coming out too (Transparent and Euphoria come to mind), so maybe look into those.

You might not be a woman, you might be gender non-conforming, or non-binary. You don't have to decide right away. In any case, have fun with it, and don't listen to any boring or hateful cis people that tell you otherwise.

Isn't everyone is on a spectrum somewhere? If we would assign traditionally feminine and masculine traits to digits 0 and 1 resepectively, and try to express everyone within these numbers -- there might as well be not a single match. And as you can imagine the possible combinations get more diverse with the approaching into more "grayish" zone (Horrible word in this instance, but you get the basic idea.) I'm totally fine with having a dick and not having boobs, and having sightly curvy shape, probably as a result of sedentary lifestyle. And totally fine with being called either a lad or a lass.
