Hello, I think this book would be more useful in recovery section.
Otherwise will simply remain unseen.
And ofc there are people who don't open unknown links, so would be better to mention what is this :)
Good luck!

I've always been interested in consciousness studies but never really knew where to begin. Thanks so much for this!

This is very true, I was somewhat apprehensive on the link.

Consciousness is advancing alot lately with modern science. It's a very fascinating subject even on the philosophic level. Here's a few resources to get you started if you're interested.

No offense intended here to @Brick In The Wall

I highly caution against Alan Watts. Having studied Buddhism for awhile from reputable teachers like Bikkhu Bodhi, I listened to some of Watt's stuff on Buddhism and he played fast and loose with the doctrine. So I did some research on him, and he himself claimed to be a "spiritual entertainer," not a reliable expert or guru.

I liken his work to disinformation, there's enough truth sprinkled in to make him believable, but whatever his agenda, it seems to me he was charismatic and highly intelligent, but more concerned with being influential than factual, instructive, or genuinely helpful.

I highly caution against Alan Watts.

He is definitely a cult of personality who I have had "recommended" for decades when someone first discovers him and thinks they have found the key to understanding everything. He is often sensible, and often entirely full of shit. I understand the draw and have had moments of pull from him, Tolle, and others. Tolle is especially enticing because he is so calm and kind and doesn't exhibit a lot of the "look at me" sort of behavior a lot of "gurus" do. He may be entirely genuine for all I know...Watts too...but they are just people at the end of the day. What I try to do is take the good points from what they say, which are often common sense things we have forgotten to focus on, and toss out all the fandom and obsessive bits.

Neuroscience is interesting, but when it comes to questions related to consciousness, there are more questions than answers and many answers are incohesive or philosophical.

Hey none taken man. It was merely a suggestion and I've not done a full background on the fella. But still that's good to know and thanks for that.

I tend to draw my reading or other materials from multiple sources and cross reference when I can.

I too have listened to Alan Watts a great deal, he seems to be genuine about his beliefs but he isn't exactly the Zen Buddhist he claims to be.
