Hey everyone! May I ask y'all for some help, please?

As the title says, it's about carbon monoxide intoxication method and stuff. Well I kinda have everything I need for doing this, but I'm really afraid of not achieving my goal. How can I begin it? I bought coal and got some from my grandma's house (just a little bit). I bought 2 bags of charcoal, from different brands. The first bag I bought it's 3 kg (I dunno how much it is in lbs, sorry guys 😓) and the 2nd one is 2 kg, because a friend told me 2 and a half bags of charcoal would be enough for me (because I weigh 62 kg).

Here comes the part that's concerning me. I don't have any griller, but here in my country poor people just like me usually does impromptu griller made out of bricks. Yes, bricks. To make it clear, here's a link of a video that teaches and shows how to do what I said: video! (It's not in english so most of y'all won't get what's being told)

I have 20 bricks to build the impromptu griller, and I'm going to do it at my bathroom, whose don't have any windows and it's small. There's a little hall between the kitchen, the bathroom and my older brother's bedroom, and in front of the bathroom, there's a window that can be totally closed and it will not disturb me when doing the method. Anyways, I'm going to place the brick griller inside of the bathroom and before putting on the coal there, imma seal my door (whose is made out of wood) with wet cloths and adhesive tape. To withstand the heat, imma wrap myself in wet towel, and then lay on the floor waiting for my death. My mom and my older brother will be at their respective jobs, which means I'm going to be home alone for like 12 hours. I think it's enough to achieve it.

The point is: is it going to work properly? Please, help me.

Do you got sleeping pills aswell? It should be good to be asleep while doing it. And you better have a CO analyzer to make sure CO is building up just well in high scales. Also, get a warning sign to let people know about high concentration of CO(not CO2) in the room. Don't risk harming anyone else.

Thanks for correcting my mistake! And yea, I'm sorry none is going to be affected. Imma put a sign at the front door saying "Do not enter. High concentration of carbon monoxide"

I don't have any sleeping pills. Also, I'm too poor and here where I live a CO analyzer it's extremely expensive. I googled it and also went to material stores ot this type, and almost died with the chock

It is best to light charcoals outside and allow them to burn until they become red hot and stop smoking. The smoke is impurities in the coal (charcoal). Once the charcoal stops smoking, then is the time to move them into the room you intend to use for ctb. Smoke is an irritant and is NOT CO. CO is odorless and colorless (invisible). When the charcoal is burning red hot and NOT producing smoke, that is when the most CO is being produced by them. If you start the charcoal in the room with you, you will have a very uncomfortable experience because of all the smoke and irritants being produced.

How much charcoal to use for effective CTB with charcoal is dependent upon the size (volume) of the room and how much leakage there may be. Measure the height, length, and width of your room and report back.

High quality, 100% carbon charcoal is best to use.

A CO analyzer capable of measuring CO levels up to 10000 PPM concentration cost about $300 US.

Thank u so much for all the tips you gave me. You're a angel.

As I said before, I'm going to use that impromptu brick griller (check out the video I left in my post) so would it be better if I light the coal inside of a pan, and then putting it on the griller? Becuz the griller cannot be moved, yknow, it would ruin the griller and the coal would fall off in the floor.

I live in Brazil and trust me the CO analyzer it's expensive as hell, like R$ 5.000 (brazilian coin) and I can't afford it. I'm going to measure the height and length of my bathroom (I'm really bad at this) and imma tell you. But if possible, shall I post my bathroom's pics? At least I have 2 bags of charcoal and can calculate, but I'm sure those 2 bags will be enough. Again, thank you

Oh and I forgot telling you: the coals I have aren't high quality 100% carbon 😭

A large pan of some type could be good. I'd just leave the coals in the pan and move the entire pan into the room when coals are ready. Use more than one pan if necessary. Need volume of room, so need HEIGHT, WIDTH, and LENGTH. Those measurements get multiplied together to calculate total volume for the room. The MINIMUM amount of charcoal necessary is 0.135 kg/m³, the m³ being the volume of your room. As a "safety" factor for assurance to make sure you're using enough charcoal, the amount calculated should be multiplied by a factor of "3". The main thing is to make sure ALL the charcoal is burning and that it is blowing RED hot. That's when it is producing the most CO. I'd just place the pan(s) of charcoal on your bricks in the room.

Not knowing the size of your room, I'm guessing you're going to need between 18kg and 24kg of charcoal to be assured you produce enough CO.

Omg i hate being dumb. I'll do my best to measure it, becuz I'm almost giving up this method. It's so complex to me. But I bought charcoal and cannot give up at this point. If my dumbness wasn't worldsized, it would be way easier. Anyways, if I struggle to measure, imma only do the coal tips you gave me (the red hot and all). I'm sure I'm going to die.

Measurements don't need to be exact. If they're not a whole number, just round up to next whole number.

Thank you. Imma measure it when I get back from school. If not, imma use my babysitting money to buy more coal. Love u, thanks for helping me

I'd like to say one more thing. I don't feel like this is the best method for you, based on your circumstances. By that I mean because you're in a studio apartment, which, I assume, is connected to other apartments, either on each side of you, or above or below you, there is a REAL danger to others in those apartments that the CO could make its way into others' apartments and harm, OR KILL, them, too, which, I'm sure, is NOT something you want to do. No matter how well you seal the room you plan on using, CO will make its way through every crack and crevice into adjoining apartments. I don't think you really want that, do you?

That sounds like a lot that's 50 lb of charcoal. I don't think he has that much and that would be several pans. But I understand, you want to be sure there's enough CO to do the job.

Yeah, that's probably way overkill, but didn't provide size of room.

Just multiply volume of room in m³ (L x W x H) by 0.135 to arrive at kg needed. Convert kg to lb if need be and then multiply that by 3 "for safety factor".
