So this is mostly my own speculation.. If anyone can elaborate or correct anything I've got wrong that would be great.
(My main method of choice so far has been inert gas, but I thought this may be more peaceful in the end due to no plastic bags or sounds of hissing gas).

To start,
We have a gas furnace and a gas hot water heater, the gas furnace is high efficiency and emits mostly water vapour so its not as lethal as the hot water heater.
I'm thinking about disconnecting the chimney exhaust off the water heater and connecting it to a piece of dryer duct tubing (like this).
And then feeding the other end of that tube into the furnace fan intake.
Turn the hot water heater up to high, turn all the water taps in the house on hot so the hot water heater keeps burning gas.
Then turn the furnace fan on to circulate the CO through the ducting in the house.

I would do this when my family is away (obviously), I can re-key the doors to the house as well to prevent people from coming in as I wouldn't want to harm anyone else.. I would also place discrete warnings..

The only cons I can see to this method is trying to figure out what to do with our pets.. As I wouldn't want them in the house while this is going on… The other issue is that I feel like having a death in the home may devalue it somewhat.

The one and only source I've been able to find on this method from 1989.

If anyone has any thoughts, that would be great.
Thanks for your time!
