I'm new to this group. I've been having chronic pain for 5 years now. It seems that every time I think I'm doing better, something happens and I get worse. I always blame myself to the point that I'm suicidal from guilt and pain. I feel that I have so much to live for besides this pain. I keep getting more suicidal to the point of ordering SN a few days ago. Does anyone have any advice?

I don't know what advice to give you, i am in a constant struggle between doing something and not seeing the point of doing it and the second option is winning out.

Howdy!

1st, WELCOME, nice to have you here!!

2nd, I have 24/7 chronic pain, from a car crash, car crash not my fault, and it is a huge challenge for sure.

I have a pain doctor who is the smartest and most caring soul ever. He has me on Hydromorphone and it helps keep things at bay.

3rd, NEVER EVER blame yourself for feeling and/or thinking suicidal. The #1 aspect, as far as medical and suicide goes is chronic pain.

My pain doctor realizes it and makes sure that I have every tool available to help.

Do you go to a pain clinic and/or pain doctor. I am in the U.S. and from what I have gathered so far, every country does pain treatment somewhat differently. My pain doctor never ever had or has an issue with prescribing opioids to me ever.

Again, WELCOME! and I send you lots of huge hugs, caring and the knowledge that you are never alone and pm me if you so desire.

Thank you for the kind words and suggestions, Walter. I'm seeing specialists for my disorder. I agree that I probably need to start seeing a pain management specialist too.

What is your disease, may I ask? I relate to you in your deep will for staying alive and living fully, had it not been for your disease. My life is also ruined because of chronic pain. I have Scheuermann's disease of the spine.

I'd also like to know what leads you to feeling guilty. Because you definitely didn't cause this.

I have a joint condition that causes debilitating pain. I feel guilty because a couple things I've done have made it worse. At the time, my reasoning was to try to live a normal life like everyone around me. I should have been more careful.

Chronic pain is also what I suffer from, which developed into depression and anxiety, which now comes out sideways and expresses itself with anger..the reason I am now completely alone and isolated without friends or family. The pain clinician gave me medical marijuana to deal. Helpful? Well, it's just a bandaid that makes me smile, while it lasts.. Since I'm retired, and can no longer work because of the injury, there's nothing to occupy my mind and nobody to spend time with doing something fun or interesting. What is there to live for if there's nothing or nobody to do anything with? Good question. Like an old song once said, I'm just dust blowing in the wind..waiting to settle beneath the earth.

Meaninglessness

Existence is absolutely meaningless

There are many people who have chronic physical pain and I myself am one of them. I have to take pain pills every day which leads to side effects and some days, I have to increase the dose to get the same effect as before. I should get euthanasia to avoid this meaningless suffering. I have lived too long, that is the problem.

I have had 24/7 chronic pain since a nasty car crash. car crash not my fault. I completely understand and agree with you. I take Hydromorphone and without it it would be a quick goodbye. My pain doctor knows this and has been so darn nice and helpful.

Most of the time I stay around 4 pills a day, BUT when I fly for work, I always have to take an extra one.

My heart breaks for you as we are one in this aspect. It stinks.

Sending you lots of hugs, understanding, caring and sunny skies.

Walter
