I'm not the 'live love laugh' type. I tend to make the proverbial mountain out of a molehill for even the most trivial things. My brain has been hardwired from past experiences to assume the worst of people, and to expect worst-case scenarios. Viewing the world through the lens of preconceived notions has closed my mind. I'm not willing to leave my comfort zone to try new things and meet people, and this prevents me from living life to the fullest.
Catastrophic thinking however, is not without its advantages. In a twisted sort of way, it gets me to lower my expectations as I'm always 'one step ahead' of disappointment. It is after all, a defense mechanism against the uncomfortable.
