Is carbon monoxide poisoning worth it?
I prefer my death to be quick and painless, any tips from the people who have researched/attempted on this method?

There's a particular type of tent that seems to recommended for barbeque CO method, the Regatta Malawi because the groundsheet is attached to the outer part or whatever it's called so it's well sealed already. I'm not an camping expert though. all that needs to be done is seal the few small vents properly. User from here "Zanexx" succeeded with this method. She used a chimney starter to light the charcoals, transferred it to a bucket, and waited a certain amount of time before moving it into the tent. I've not attempted this method myself, but I'm still considering it as a possible ctb option. Definitely need to do a lot of research and preparation though, I don't know exactly how much charcoal is needed ppm or for each metre of space

For a fast unconsciousness 10000ppm and higher CO is recommended. You need minimum 0.135kg/cbm charcoal. I would double that amount on 2 BBQs depending on the amount needed. CO meter must measure 10000 ppm.

Edit: avoid alcohol during the attempt

Too bad that tent isn't available in the U.S. It has a lower roofline than most I've seen.

based on your profile picture i guess you might be more inclined to try the drowning in a helmet method. might not work if you sing lol.

Drowning in a waterpark tunnel slide? Alive at the start, shooting out dead at the end? That reminds me of the guy who was on a roller coaster ride and was seen dangling by his fingers, outside the car, at its highest elevation, just very creative, not to make light of suicide of course.

I personally believe the carbon/tent method to be a strong option. It's not my first choice but it would be on my top 5 list of ways to ctb.

i was referring to this video bc OP has the album OK computer as a profile picture and and these dudes sing about dying of carbon monoxide.

Is there any way people could dumb down their answers for people like me suffering from brain damage. All these abbreviations get so confusing. Maybe I'm the only one who gets confused. Probably.

10000 ppm = 10000 parts per million

I tried this method. I managed to get the PPM very high but it was so overpowering I felt I was suffocating. I burned 3kg in a chimney starter and had a pop up tent which was really rather well insulated. I went back in after the initial suffocation panic and woke a couple of hours later with the most horrific headache. I was extremely unsteady on my feet, fell and cut my knee. I would consider this method again but it took alot of planning and preparation. I find it ridiculous that the psychiatrist is treating me now with a depot antipsychotic which apparently dulls my 'impulsivity'. There was nothing impulsive about that attempt

About 30 years ago (christ, I'm old), I was able to achieve clinical death via Carbon Monoxide poisoning. It was an old car (pre catalytic converter) in a garage. Took fucking forever, because it wasn't planned out. Now that I've been officially diagnosed with ASD, I know now that what I was experiencing was an extreme Autistic meltdown from years of burnout. If I had the forethought to map it out, I would have attached a hose to the exhaust and run it into the interior of the car.

As it is, I remember the smell of the fumes the most. It took a long time for the garage to fill up with enough CO2 to put me asleep, but I don't recall any major discomfort...aside from a bit of nausea and a headache. Just sort of fell asleep, then woke up in a hospital puking my brains out 10 hours later (family came home unexpectedly, found me with my heart stopped, and revived me).

Now that I'm 50, and life is infinitely worse, I've always kept an 'escape plan' close. I have a poorly ventilated shed, a snowblower that vents in inordinately high amount of CO2, and a whole house generator (that I've disabled the CO2 sensor on) as a backup. I'm hoping that this will be enough to deliver the kind of near-painless experience that I had back in 1989. I'm a planner by nature (and trade), so I'm still working out some of the kinks to this plan.

The only thing keeping me around is a wife and daughter that I have to support. Every day, I make the calculation as to whether their lives are better off with me in it. So far, I've been able to keep myself going for their sake.

The shed is always there, though. It brings me a bit of solace knowing that I can just walk right over, fire up the snow blower and generator, lay down on a makeshift bead that I've built in there (Seasonal storage), and end this.

Why avoid alcohol? Wouldn't that help with SI?

I've seen reports of failed attempts that included alcohol and sometimes a lot of alcohol (and other sedatives). Breath frequence might slow down but this is what we don't want bc we want to inhale as much CO in the crucial moments as possible. Unconsciousness and death follow quickly with high concentrations above 8k ppm. Usually there are no sedatives needed bc CO itself will not activate any SI reactions like suffocation feelings. There might be a headache, a bit nausea.

Methods that use incomplete combustion typically produce CO and CO2. Produced carbon dioxide may induce suffocation feelings. In order to exclude the possibility of experiencing such feelings one would need to use a different chemical reaction, such as decomposition of formic acid; the produced carbon monoxide may be collected in a plastic bag and inhaled afterwards. If the head is placed inside the bag and the bag is sealed around the neck quickly enough, you may get a very high concentration of CO (over 500'000 ppm) for inhaling which is very deadly. Breathing should be avoided when doing any manipulations with the bag while it's open. It's also worth noting that vapours of formic acid are highly irritating, so they need to be filtered out by something like a wet fibre material (possibly with NaOH).

Oh ok. Thought it might be easier to get a bit trashed first but i'll take that into consideration, thanks.

In either Singapore or Hong Kong you can no longer buy big bags of charcoal so many people CTB'd this way.

Google is absolute dogshit looking for details on this kind of stuff nowadays, but I remember reading they literally passed a law in the early 2000s about how much charcoal you could buy at once.

In any event for TPTB to take such steps it makes me think it is pretty effective.
