As for OD though:
There's still a lot of questions and inquiries about ODs, and people asking about what things may facilitate a successful attempt. Let's be clear, ODs are rarely fatal. Why? For a couple of reasons: (1) modern medications are designed to be very safe, as manufacturers aim to avoid deaths that...

Unless it is a specific drug cocktail for
MAID (like DDMAPh) or cardiac switch (although those single agent ones such as
amitriptyline can take 12-24 or up to 48 hours, which sounds really miserable), I would not seem to rely on drugs. Or also check the
Opioid Megathread if drugs are a serious desire.
Sn (will have to quit drinking)
For JUST ME, quiting drinking alcohol for a day to succeed at SN would be a worthwhile feat to end my pain and suffering. Someone could just not drink booze for say a day, do their food and then water fast, and still succeed.
I'm curious, why can't you use SN if you're an alcoholic?
Waiting until it is at least cleared out of the body enough to not add more nausea and vomiting. Dinking alcohol too close to it is a downside, not sure there is any reason an alcoholic who laid off the sauce for a day would not be successful. This is not to suggest or tell you or anyone else what to do or what not to do.
I think it (or the Sn guide) advises against drinking within 48 hours or something
I do not believe the PPH, Stan nor Vizzy's guide use 48 hours. Stan & Vizzy's guides though make clear to avoid alcohol before the SN due to vomit risk. But as always someone please correct me if there is a PPEH update which said 48 hours which I didn't stumble across. Per
Stan's Guide and Vizzy's
SN Bible:
Taking a large amount of alcohol prior is not recommended. The body already sees alcohol as a toxin, adding another toxin may tip the balance and increase the chance of vomiting.
I think a decent measure would be just waiting until the body metablized and eliminates that. Depending how much someone drank, and how much, will affect this. Aka if someone drinks 3 or 12 beers or shots one night, the next morning how much is in them is going to vary. Some common sense procedures about elimination from the body/blood stream are likely a good one to use here. And there they said "large amounts prior" but I think the general consensus here is to avoid any alcohol in the immediate time before it out of the extra nausea and toxins. Each body, especially an alcoholic which might be faster
or slower (chronic alcohol use may lead to some reduced liver function over time, not saying anyone here specifically does but that is how the body processes that toxin and so it could go both ways, depending on how someone looks at it). It would probably be 'safest' to just avoid booze for a day before, but everyone can assess their own risk factors on this and how important CTB is vs being able to enjoy alcohol. Some people specifically want to be drunk when they CTB in which case SN is definitely not for them. Maybe that is where some this came from is convos of people saying they want to be sauced up enough to help with
SI.
But yeah location location location, don't wanna leave a place for family to have bad memories, also timing, don't wanna time it too close to birthdays etc
Very thoughtful of you which is a good thing, I appreciate you are trying to minimize the risk of harm to others in terms of a location although I know not everyone has that ability and timing wise can always be tricky as there seems to always be some sort of holiday or whatever. It is on my mind as well though so I can relate to you there.
It's so complicated to CTB properly
I hear you, but planning also helps reduce the risk of failure, mishaps, mistakes...and also says a lot about the fact you are thinking this very important decision through and not acting out of haste, impulse or otherwise. Always good to take your time for something so important. I can understand your frustrations.
With whatever you decide, I hope you find everything you are looking for and get peace & serenity.
