Can't sleep and it's doing my box in and when I do sleep I keep waking up.
Before I was sleeping too much and I'd give much to go back to that. I'm angrier. I'm irritable. I feel like punching shit. I feel like crying but can't cry. This is a fucking joke.

Same shit. 7 a.m. and I still haven't slept yet. I don't know, how it works but sometimes I can't fall asleep for a couple of days or unlike it, sleep for 15-16 hours a day.

Do you usually wake up with nightmares?

Not had nightmares in a while, nah its just generally waking up and unable to return to sleep. I'm same up since 5am or bit before (can't remember). It's been happening that I'm awake when alarm goes off.

When I haven't been kicked out of uni, I used to experience that. For a third or fourth day it becomes easy to fall asleep, lol. Now I just wait for a moment till I fall asleep naturally, no matter what time is it. However, i still wake up as a bitch every hour or two because of some creepy shit in my dreams

Sorry about crappy dreams. That sucks. Makes you (me) not want to sleep sometimes, fearful they're gonna happen.
Yeah I've not slept yet, I'm just getting me more angry. I took my medication and that not helping. I get phases of not being able to sleep. See me punching pillar at work

Any chance not to go at work today? Maybe tell em you're ill, your family is ill or something else?

IMO medication is useless. Just get drunk and soon you'll pass out. Or wait for falling asleep. Of course, it's impossible to have such sleep issues and work. Just try to have a rest

I have a battery of sleep aids as I've struggled with insomnia for decades.
The most effective I've used is Temazepam, but most benzos are excellent.
Personally, Ativan or Xanax worked best for me.

Low dose Marijuana edibles (<5mg) or 1:1 CBD to THC edibles are pretty good too. Even straight CBD works for some people.

Next comes Ambien, Sonata, Lunestra, etc... much more hit&miss. Sonata has been the best of these, but still not nearly as good as a benzo.

I'd say I average 3hrs sleep unless I take something. I was up for 5 nights straight one time, ended up hallucinating and in the ER.

Yeah I'm going to smoke some in next couple of days and it's been a while so think that will help, not so good for mh though.
I bought CBD pills don't seem to help. May end up asking for diazepam. Got to get up now but thanks.

Am hearing what sounds like talking and fuzziness like on a radio station when between stations and seeing things, black coming into my eyes and up and like flashing in the darkness. Am feeling weird. Gp increased pregabalin and gave me amitriptyline (funny bcos I've got and ordered them). Think it's the pregabalin or taking with amitriptyline and olanzapine. Only difference is added amitriptyline and upped pregabalin. More frustrating than anything. Know it's not late but I'm up at 5 an maybe would drift off about now. Shaking inside myself too, which I've had before so dunno what happening. Just talking to myself really.

When I get palpitations I cant sleep. I try to stay away from meds these days so I use L Ornithine instead. Its an amino acid supplement. It works for some people but not for others. Maybe worth a try.

I'm still not sleeping. Lowered dose of olanzapine cause weight gain then went back up to 10mg an the first night I took it I slept great, slept in, was 15mins late for work. Now I'm back to waking at 01.- and being awake through night.
Had zopiclone from online Dr so I knew that wasn't fake an I slept a bit better. I have diazepam but keeping it for daytime.

I really hate not sleeping and don't know what can do about it. :(

I feel you, I've probably lost an entire 365 nights of sleep by now. Probably more when adding all the lost hours. Makes me look even worse than I already too. So icing on the insomnia cake. I take meds but they kind of suck.

Whenever I get terrible bouts of insomnia, which is every night, I take ZzzQuil and a lot of it. I tried taking melatonin before, but it just makes me feel calmer at best; it doesn't knock me out like ZzzQuil does.

I've been dealing with bouts of Insomnia for 9 years. I've tried prescriptions and OTC drugs. The only thing that has helped make some improvement is taking natural alternatives like Melatonin along with Magnesium and 5-HTP in the evening to help me feel relaxed. I also drink Chamomile tea every night and take Epsom salt baths before bed. I find I'm not able to shut off my mind and have trouble with racing thoughts. I've tried deep breathing and listening to music, which help a little. I also sleep, wearing an eyemask and earplugs to block out any light or sound. I watched a show a while ago and they suggested eating Kiwi and taking a Pre-biotic before bed. I've been eating Kiwi for the pass 2 weeks, but haven't had any improvement, although I've read that it can take up to 4 weeks to start helping. I'll probably try a Pre-biotic to see if that helps.

When I get insomnia really bad, (like tonight already), typically I just watch videos until I finally get tired. If it gets so bad I can't even feel at all tired I take 100mg Trazadone and that sometimes helps, a higher dosage can really help some people.

That was helpful. I was sleepy when went to bed but once I was awake just couldn't return to sleep. I should get up an watch a dvd next time or something like that. Trazadone is good drug for sleep. It's good you've got that.

Some nightmares it's like I'm placed in them awake and the nightmare is going on around me. They're so real. I remember I was screaming and yelling in one last week trying to wake myself up. I did but it came out as a quiet scream but I got out of it. You're so right when said some dreams haunt for days.

I'm sorry you suffer for so long, I'm similar to you. Always had sleep problems.

I sleep with classic fm on or some talking programme but not news related. Pro-biotics are meant to be beneficial for lots so should get into habit of buying them, maybe I'll see some difference.
When I see p'trist next I'm going to ask for something to help sleep.
Eye mask is good idea.

You're probably used to insomnia now but I feel it does ruin life a bit and makes one irritable and edgy.

Thank you. I'm sorry you're going through this too. Make sure you buy a pre-biotic. Although pro-biotics are helpful for many things, I don't think they help with sleep.

curious how there is the pattern of alternating between hypersomnia and insomnia. The other night I slept 15 hours and now I am on my second night without sleep. Never feel well rested either way, but I'd prefer to sleep my life away. this is torture, and a problem I've had since I was about 9. hard to sleep when it feels like there's 50 tv channels blaring in your head, some nothing but static.

anyway, I'm sure I'm not making too much sense. best wishes to fellow insomniacs here.

Yeah you've got a point about hypersomnia and insomnia. I don't know the answer. I find if I do more in a day I don't sleep and that is meant to help one sleep. Sorry you're suffering too.

I've done this as well. I thought it was my mind's/body's way of trying to catch up for the nights I didn't get any sleep.
