Help can you be arrested for having bought illegal substances if you od on them??

im sort of concerned that if i get caught overdosing somehow or something goes wrong and i'm found, i'll get into legal trouble since what i'm planning on isn't technically.. allowed. has this happened to anyone? thoughts?

if your caught with an illegal substance it is likely that you will be arrested. The drugs found will be seized and destroyed. If you're caught with drugs you may be charged with possessing (or possession with intent to supply - a much more serious offence) controlled drugs, whether it's yours or not.

it honestly depends on where you OD at.
some states are more lenient than others; some even decriminalized drug possession for this exact reason.
unfortunately some places just suck and others are better about this sort of this. i recommend doing some research.

I'm pretty sure that in most places you cannot get arrested for having drugs if you call 911 after overdosing, but you should do more research about the laws where you live.

Will there be any left after you use it?
At least where I'm at, you cannot be charged if you smoke/consume all of it. It being in your system is not enough to constitute possession. There needs to be some physical evidence for them to find. Powder, residue, paraphernalia etc.

So if you do a good job cleaning up after yourself there shouldn't be any legal troubles to worry about. However this can all vary wildly depending on where you live so I think reading up on your local laws will be better than consulting us.

When the cops were called on me when I tried to CTB and OD'd on benzos, I had a few left by the time they arrived, and the cops just gave me the box I had them in back. I took them all at once in the hospital bathroom after they sectioned me lol.
From my experience the cops here cared more about drinking in public than ODing on benzos or heroin.
I think it depends on how power-tripping the cops in your area are. I live in a small village in the North of the UK, and the cops here just don't care, you can walk past them smoking a joint and they'll do nothing.

Likely didn't know that you got them illegally, did they have any means of checking if you had a prescription, and did they check it? With anything that could be prescribed, they may be afraid to get into trouble for bothering a sick person who obtained those perfectly by the book.

Most places are fairly lenient towards people who have illegal substances and using them in order to end themselves, as long as said person does not have a particularly large amount of the substance. They would definitively be enjoying an all-inclusive stay at the local psych ward, though.

In Ireland, hard drugs can get you into serious trouble, but with things like weed or acid, one would have to be caught with a serious amount to get into trouble. Normally, the police just confiscate the drugs. I should also add that I know two weed smokers who regularly buy the green off a police officer "under the table". And some wonder why I don't trust cops....

Depending on the country you live in, it's very likely that you'd be arrested for possession no matter the circumstances, especially if they're hard drugs like cocaine or heroin.
