Can the police just break open your apartment door if a neighbor gets concerned from hearing noises?

Ok, if after I take SN should my neighbor hear any noises like who knows, if I fall, or what if I'm breathing too loud, for any reason. If a neighbor calls the police out of concern, do they just break open a door? My concern is that if I am saved, the only way they can get to me is by breaking the door (because it will be locked). My paranoia is elevated because if I'm saved, how the hell is my door going to be locked while I'm in the hospital, all of my belongings would get stolen. Not to mention, my landlord would probably evict me.
Can a concerned citizen actually have the power to influence the police to break open someone's door? Damaging their property? Or would they have to get a key from the landlord then do a "wellness check"? Thoughts?

My brother's wife's brother was not heard of for a day,so the police contacted the landlord to open the place, and they found him dead

I believe they can break down your door. Basically police (in the US, not sure about other countries) can't come in your house without a warrant but there several exceptions, like hot pursuit. Another exception is the emergency aid exception: Police can enter without a warrant if they have objective reasonable belief of injury or threat of imminent injury. Source: my criminal procedure class.

I would understand this to mean that the police cannot rely solely on a neighbor's account in theory. However, they may come check it out and decide for themselves they need to break in. They also may decide the neighbor's account is enough and chances are they won't be found to have violated your rights in any case.

I would imagine they would secure the door once they break it though. I would hope they would be that courteous.

How well do you know your neighbors? Maybe plant the seed that you've not been sleeping well lately due to night terrors brought on by adjusting to Ambien or something.

Don't wanna sound like a dick, but unless your walls are paper I don't think you'd be breathing loud enough for them to call the police. But I agree with someone else's point maybe say you've been sleeping bad. Also from experience the police will replace the lock if they have to break it they won't leave your door unlocked they'll replace the lock and give you the key (if you got saved) but I highly doubt your neighbour will call the police unless you're screaming and shouting for an extended period of time (which I don't think happens with SN)

It is possible that they could- I have the same situation. Maybe locking valuables in a storage space could help. There are some risks with any attempt to ctb.

Yup. Me too, if one source of SN doesn't work (which it should, others have tested it), I have another but I don't know what kind of space I would be in after failing. I cannot fail either.

Honestly in terms of outside influences, as long as you can lock yourself away in your house / CTB at an unsociable hour, SN is probably one of the least risky in terms of being found. Obviously if people usually knock on your door or pop in randomly then maybe not but I think you'll be fine. Only needs a few hours at the most

Nope, no one pops in or comes to my door. :-) The only person who would check on me is my therapist, but I'll be alone and won't be disturbed for the whole week after my "last" session which is through tele-heatlh. She won't know anything and doesn't know anything about this.

I am glad you feel better about this, but there is some risk. I have heard of people making a lot of noise in this situation in a hotel room and getting rescued due to this. Using an antiemitic really helps lower the risk, as well as following as much of the Stan's Guide protocol as you can.

If music is loud enoug hto disturb your neighbors either the landlord or the police could be called to address- it depends on the area where you live. Music at a moderate volume might help some, but it's no guarantee. There are some risks with any attempt at ctb- I have worries as well. Sn is my nethod as well, it seems like the best compromise of everything- you just need to do your best to lessen risks, but you can't eliminate them, especially in apartment. Still many people ctb in apartments, it definitely can be done.

I worry the most about vomiting. I have a big enough house far enough from my neighbors that It's not a legit concern, but when I vomit I sound like Chewbacca with a megaphone…

Probably best to grab a bucket and stick to the basement…

Sorry, the purpose was not to make you worried, the purpose was to help you to keep focused on minimizing risk and to have have the best plan you can have for the small risk that this could happen. There are some risks in all methods, we are better off knowing this doing our best to minimize risks the most we can and to have a plan in case it doesn't go the way we want. Just trying to help. Anyone can just say or believe- this plan is foolproof, it will work no matter what, but there is no such thing for ctb.

I really didn't want to do this, I was just hoping to try to give you the best chance of finding peace. There are always some risks, even if they are small- a good guess based on seeing many posts might be that Sn works 80% of the time when people are pretty close to Stan's protocol, and trying to help a person have the best chance of finding peace was the purpose- sorry, I didn't meant to add to the stress of worrying.
