I have a 2001 Pontiac grand am and a 2 car garage, can I effectively CTB by running the car with the windows open? My original plan was SN but I was recently hospitalized and it got taken away from me. Just worried that this won't work and I'll be hospitalized again. If anyone has just some general advice on catching the bus with this method it would be greatly appreciated.

Majority of cars post 1999s-ish have catalytic converters which burn most of the would be deadly fumes away.

Catyltic converters have been on cars since 74 or 75 and have been massively improved since then. Along with the use of fuel injection, oxygen sensors and computers they run very clean so no , it won't work even with a car as old as yours. My truck is an 04 and still runs very efficiently. I'm not going to get into the pros and cons of CO but it's probably not the nice going to sleep experience many think it is. Once I had an older car from the 60's. I let it run in the garage with it closed up. Let me tell you it got pretty hot and stinky too. I wasn't in there for the first ten minutes and went in. Unless the CC's have been removed it's not a viable option. Or pleasant is my guess. I hope you're having a better day today

Actually, catalytic converters were placed on cars in the later 1970s. You would need a much older car without a convertor, or remove the catalytic converter on your car. Also, newer cars burn fuel much more efficiently, which equates to less pollution including cO. Also, it would be better to run a metal hose from the exhaust pipe right into the cabin of the car, rather than try and fill a space the size of a garage with CO. Sealing vents and other openings would be a good idea, too. There are better ways if you want CO as your method.

My friend got his stolen, you dont need to replace it , so take it out and it will do the job.

From google ;

Can you drive without a catalytic converter? Yes, you could temporarily drive without a catalytic converter, and it won't damage a modern car or engine. But in the long run, it'll emit harmful gas, sacrifice your car's engine performance and fuel economy, and possibly get you in trouble with the law.

Or just buy a gas generator in any hardware store. Let it run with your car.
