Consider if one is depressed but wants to die happy, would heroin work in providing temporary relief?

It produces euphoria, as with other opioid related medications. But of course it's a very slippery slope! When it wears off you want it again because you crave that euphoria. I've never had heroin or opium or fentanyl, but I've had pharmaceutical products that give me a good indication of what it would be like. (Morphine). If I was in hospice care, and dying, I wouldn't hold back on the morphine. 🥴

i have thought about this too

from what people on here have said, the risk of becoming a heroin addict is extreme

once you do heroin once, it rewires your brain and the desire for heroin becomes similar to the desire for water. Heroin is expensive and people will often turn to crime to get it.

it's probably best to avoid trying to use it because heroin addiction is awful and painful. Imagine if you could never have bread, potatoes, chips, or candy forever and had a constant headache unless you had potato chips. Heroin cravings are similar to cravings like "I need water" or "I have to go to the bathroom." The need is primal and your brain does not go "oh this is illogical and so I don't feel it." Instead, it's just as real as needing water, just as real as the "I really need to piss, it hurts." There are better alternatives like ketamine if you are depressed and want to try extreme treatments.

I have no idea, but I read that ayahuasca can cure depression in some cases. I dont have solid info, but if you are interested you can research it.

Honestly its worth a shot... Id do it but Im afraid because it seems to need someone to take care of you to not die asphyxiated by the vomits and I really dont want other people. It doesnt help that this person is called shaman and all this shit...

also, people have written on here that if you try heroin prior to an attempt, you are likely to briefly stop being depressed and not do the attempt and wind up addicted (and then want to attempt later). it doesn't sound worth it to me, personally

When i first used H i felt amazing, kinda like i found what was missing all my life. I felt normal for the first time. However the highs are short lived and the lows and issues that come along w/ its use (addiction and physical dependence plus unhealthy lifestyle) far out weigh any positives. It does in fact hijack the brain/ bodies reward system, and this comes at a steep price. I would not recommend it to anyone under any circumstances.

I have been on Hydromorphone for chronic pain from a very nasty car crash and it works great for pain control, however, I also have massive depression, and it does zero for that.

If one is under the guidance of a doctor and it is for chronic pain great but depression nope. At least in my experience.

I truly loved the response that @ImsooDone1N wrote and I 100% agree with her take, so thoughtfully said with so much humanistic foresight and love.
