Moi, 3.5 yrs ago.

I have written about once or twice here somewhere. Spent a week in a coma after and the psychological fallout from a "failed" attempt is probably the most difficult thing to overcome. I am already disabled and have cerebral ataxia, so could not really do much more damage in that respect. The left side of my body basically doesn't work anymore.

I took my cocktail of Ami, codeine and propranalol , sat down with my music on and that was that. I died somewhere around 6 hours later. A neighbour did the CPR thing until medics arrived. Docs told me another 20-30 mins I would have been brain dead.

The only lasting impression is complete darkness, but with a slight shimmer to it. I was floating in nothingness, blind, but could sense being a part of something huge. Like everything was connected somehow. I was definitely at peace. It is the most seductive sensation i have ever known and is the sole reason I no longer fear death.

There is the chance that all of it was my mind coming to terms with death, or it could all be my imagination. How do you rationalise something like that? I have given up trying to understand the inexplicable.

You give me hope for the state of my deceased husband with this experience. In all his pain and anguish here, he is at peace somewhere.

Why didn't you attempt again?

I did, about a week after leaving hospital. Because that failed, I ended up here searching for something that would make a third attempt more likely to be a success. The next one will be my last, live or die. If I fail 3 times, there is a reason, whatever it might be. Thats my thoughts anyway.

Why did that fail? And do you regret your first attempt since it left you with worse problem s?

No regrets, way too old for that shit now.

I am at peace with my decision to go with SN. I have all I need and when the time comes I go on my terms. I cant do it to my partner again, she deserves better than that. I gave her my word I would do my best every day to stay alive and that is what I do. Make it through today, thats all there is. Tomorrow does not exist. It works for me anyway.

In a dream I had a similar experience, exactly as you described but from my point of view, it sure was "peaceful" but scary, I was floating in darkness then my arms began to float and I was feeling observed by somekind of superior being its was about 1year ago.

I attempted to hang myself several years ago and the damn thing collapsed under my weight. I am very bitter. I 've always been slim. My brother died and he was a head taller than I am.

What was it like: I blacked out within seconds. I remember trembling violently (it was impulsive). Then all black. I woke up on the floor with a bruised neck and rapidly swelling ankle, thinking I was in bed and that it was morning.
