This wouldn't work. The cuff first wouldn't be big enough to fit around your neck and second it only inflates so much and for so long. Interesting thought though. Are you in a hospital right now?

I was about to say the same thing. I take my blood pressure daily due to hypertension. The entire process takes under a minute then the cuff loosens back up.

But does it deflate automatically or does it have to be deflated? I mean, if no one does anything to release the pressure it would stay inflated wouldn't it?

It deflates automatically. Plus it's slowly deflating while it's taking your BP. Won't work.

If you could attach a separate pump to it the cuff, that would keep it inflated no? Interesting method. If you done what the night night method does and puts separate pressure on both carotids then that might work? Maybe?

Not true there are cuffs that have a release valve you you can't pump the cuff if the valve is open the air is just escapes lock the valve you can pump up to your desired systolic level and slowly release to find the diastolic number source I used to ems for fdny however doubt you'll find a cuff suitable for your desired effect

Proof it can work
The authors report a unique case of a 16‐year‐old youth who committed suicide by means of a standard mercury sphygmomanometer. This manner of suicide has never been described in the literature reviewed. A complete forensic investigation led to the conclusion that the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia, ascribed to self‐strangulation by means of an atypical item.
