  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Former Micro$oft worker here. Bitlocker is secure. There is no 'back door' and brute force would take the worlds fastest super computer about a billion years to gain access.

Choose a solid password and do a 'Full Encryption' of your drives. It will force you to save or print a recovery code. Print it, then destroy it.

All my media including my phone are fully encrypted.

I don't have a printer :/
I wonder if it would negatively impact performance, just in case if my attempt is unsuccesful

Then it will ask you to save the recovery key to an external sorce such as a usb key or memory card. Do so, then securly wipe or destroy that storage device. Bitlocker will not function until you have a recovery key saved.

SideNote: If your using an SSD (Solid State Drive) there will be no performance hit as those drives are encrypted to begin with, but use a public key for local access. If your on a conventional platter drive there will be a small read/write penalty along with CPU overhead. On a modern PC it should be negligible at best.

Everyone should always encrypt their devices these days anyways.
