Where is the best place for the quickest death

A coworker of mine said the other day that the best place to aim a handgun to guarantee a quick death is the temple because of how thin that part of the skull is. He explained that shooting in the mouth has a higher chance of something going wrong and resulting in being alive, but with brain damage that further depletes quality of life.

Don't ask how that came up in conversation at work; I cannot remember for the life of me.

It's the brain stem to aim for. At the very back/bottom of the skull, where it connects to the spinal cord. Sometimes through the temple results in non fatal brain damage, but a hit to the brain stem is guaranteed lights out.

I would aim straight between my eyes. I think that would just hit the top of the brain stem.
