I was thinking of combining methods for something calmer and/or more effective.

And this brought an idea to me. Would combining benzodiazepines/sleep medication with hanging/drowning help keep your body more relaxed? Could you lay down in a full bathtub and wait until passing out and drown while unconscious? Is this a possible method?

I think I might be onto something here, but I'm not sure. Input from more experienced people would be appreciated. I'm just the one offering the idea.

drowning your SI would kick in anyway. I doubt you can drown peacefully unless you're in a coma tbh

Even with sedatives?
you mean dissociatives? Idk, I think they may work well to hang yourself since at least I don't feel a lot when on DXM

I have a benzodiazepine (clorazepate) prescribed that I could potentially use, which, quoting wikipedia, "possesses anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative, hypnotic, and skeletal muscle relaxant properties." It's also supposedly very long-lasting.

lol i had clorazepate too but tbh it did nothing to me when I took em. Anyway IMO i think benzos can help with hanging

The problem with mixing methods is that it doesnt make success more likely, but rather compounds all of the potential failures from each method. The truth is all methods but N will have some level of panic and such involved. Thats just the way of things. If youre serious, death will beat the panic.

IIRC benzodiazepines are known to be ridiculously safe so if I didn't mix them with any other drugs, if I failed or chickened out, it's likely that literally nothing would happen to me. I'd just pass out for a long while.

I think I might use benzos when ctb'ing anyway, just for the calming properties.

not a very good idea i would say

benzos cause muscle relaxation, keep that in mind when jumping or hanging.

that's not true. if you combine two breath depressants you increase the chance of apnea, if you add alcohol you increase it even more.
benzos are made to calm, they can bring you down from a crazy trip with demons eating your flesh. why should N not cause panic? you can feel panic no matter if you're using barbiturates or benzos or opiates, but these substances will calm you somehow. if you take benzos because you dont want to die from a trip, they will calm you. if you take benzos to ctb and then you get scared of dying by their effects, maybe they won't calm you as much. same goes for barbiturates. you can drink it and then feel panic until you fall unconscious, it depends on you. if you're serious, death will beat the panic, yes. but N is not the holy grale of zero panic and 100% fun way to ctb, keep that in mind. if you're serious it doesn't matter which substance you take/combine, but N will grant a bigger chance of success than benzos or even combinations of benzos with other breath depressants, yes. i feel like i will come back with brain damage if i try to ctb by pill combinations, but i can't afford N so yeah, it's gonna be russian roulette some day.

Using benzos and trying to drown in a bathtub will not work. Here's some useful information:

Wikibooks said:
Benzodiazepines work through the limbic system in our brain, which is - among other areas of responsibility - responsible for awakeness and falling asleep. But when benzodiazepines shut down your limbic system, your motoric system is not shut down and continues to be operational.
...
Barbiturates, on the other hand, shut down the neural pathways in the brain because they work through the reticular formation in the brain. This then prevents any motoric activity from occurring.

This information can be found in the Suffocation entry on Wikibooks.

Even whilst unconscious, your brain is still monitoring your body's functions and SI will kick in and, if using benzos, your body will still have control of motor functions.

It may work with barbiturates as the brain would not have control of motor functions. However, you would still have to find a way for the body to become submerged after you lose consciousness.

The same goes with hanging (I'm assuming full suspension). How would you rig up a system such that your support is removed after loss of consciousness.
