I have a few questions about the practicalities of jumping from Beachy Head from those who are familiar with the location.

I'd prefer to do it at night when it's quiet, but presumably it's not lit, so how would I see the edge and where it was highest? Do I just bring a torch?

If I did it in the day, is it quiet enough to do it where other people won't see? I don't want someone else to see me jump and potentially traumatise them.

Does anyone know the best spot to jump? Some bits look higher than others and in places the cliffs slant rather than being vertical.

Thanks in advance.

I've never been there but apparently the volunteers do patrol 24/7, and if you're spotted at night then it'll be tricky to persaude them that you were innocently taking a walk along beach head in the dark!

Choose your spot by day and set a pin on your phone to find it at night.

I love this pic, that would be my spot. IMG 8076

Yeah I'm worried about the patrols but more worried about other onlookers, which is why I was thinking nighttime.

I live 3 hours away so I was planning to do it all at once rather than visit and go back. I could go in the daytime and wait for night fall but I'm worried I'll be approached by patrols if I linger there waiting for it to get dark. I'm a terrible liar so I don't think I'd be very convincing as to why I was there.

I have been there a few times. In the day time, the patrol do not bother people unless we look suspicious - I have never been stopped by them during the day time. I have even parked the car in the car park opposite during early hours of the morning and was not spotted.

However there was a time when I showed up at night time and had not even got out of the car. I was about to get out and start the walk and they shopped u in their vehicle, escorted back to their base, he police were called and I convinced them that I was just there for a drive to clear my head. They realised that though I was a suicide risk, I also work in safeguarding and managed to convince them that I had to bebin work the following morning. The police escorted me out of the are advising me never to return at night time. I have been back since - but not at night time.

Thanks for the info. How busy was it when you went in the day? Were there places where you were alone? I don't want other people to see me jump.

It is quieter during winter times and sometimes, no one will walk past for an hour or so - probably because it gets really cold there during this season. In the summer, it does get busier with tourists - but still with quiet moments. I have seen the patrol in the day time, but they have never recognised or stopped me. One day, I must have been on the same spot for about two hours (I dissociate and can easily lose time) and I am pretty sure that I must have been there a minimum of two hours and was never stopped.

Thanks that's good to know. It'll still be winter when I'm planning to go so hopefully it'll be quiet.
