My friend currently has an internship in a mental health facility. The recent story she told me gave me chills. There's a guy who was admitted recently because he retweeted 'alien invasion' tweets on Twitter… "aliens are taking over the world" that kind of stuff. The police came knocking on his door and took him to the facility. I never knew that that could happen. Never knew that government's checking social media accounts. Crazy.

The only thing I posted on facebook and got in trouble at work was a Toy Story Meme saying Cunts everywhere, my boss thought it was funny but advised me to change my settings.

Not really related, but I once missclicked and sent a pretty controversial child-free meme to my new-ish boss. I shat bricks, but it turned out he's child-free too and has a dark sense of humour.

What's "child-free"?
I'm afraid of finding something... "controversial", shall we say, via Google. Lol

Oh, it's just a choice to not have kids, nothing too terrible (although some people do get seriously offended when a young woman doesn't fulfill her greatest purpose.. yes that was sarcasm.)

I am child free and I love it! I made the decision in my 20s not to have them as I did fear my genes would be inflicted on them and make them ill.

One of my friends posts a lot of crazy stuff, but he's labelled his account to be purely for entertainment purposes and never uses his real name.
That way he can always claim "satire" no matter what he says.

I didn't expect to regret child free down the road. It's not so bad when you are young to be childless, the issue is that women can live to be very old and outlive men. We tend to not get much meaning from the stuff we were interested in when young. In your older years you might really regret it as a woman. Maternal desire is not automatic for everyone but the desire for sex is for most people. When kids became wanted and unwanted rather than a natural outcome of sex I think more people make the wrong decision on having kids and then down the road u regret it because u went against nature especially if u could have kids but didn't.

Well, the planet is going to hell anyway it seems, so for me not having kids is a logical choice above all else, but that's not a discussion for this thread ;)

Yea if everywhere turns socialist we are fucked and many people will be dying off anyway because there just won't be enough competent people who can afford to keep growing, producing the food etc. It will look like Venezuela all over. People eating their pets to survive.

I'm the one who posted the OP. Selfbanned and made a new account. The guy who was admitted didn't use his real name too which makes the whole thing even scarier. They probably tracked his IP address.

I've never used social media and this is one of the reasons why.

I feel like even if most stuff may not be a crime now, that who knows what's going to happen in the future and all the data that Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc. have hoovered up and people will be charged retro-actively with crimes. Yes, people may have nothing to hide right now, but who knows what the future is going to say about that.

VPN anyone....?

I'm under no illusions that even on a VPN, I'm untraceable: at this point in tech, most things have some bug in them. But your online activity has to be really outrageous/conspicuous/etc etc for authorities to take note.

Slight tangent but I bring it back:
I've lived in the city I was born in. My relationship with the police (which has been surprisingly good) is one most don't have because I have a tradition of trying (and failing miserably as you can see) to die each year and the police are called 9 times of 10.

You'd think they be monitoring my internet activity: not out of compassion/care but because I'm just a frequent "customer" that it becomes more prudent for them to take preventive measures.

Well...I've been active on SanctionedSuicide on reddit for a couple years before it was banned and am here now.

They either are waiting for the next time they are called (so that the hospital can bill me for the BS that is their "care") and that benefits them OR VPN works.

Despite being an ardent pessimist, I (foolishly) think it's the latter. So unless you're the next mass shooter (even then; efforts are poor on their part), >95% a VPN will cover your ass.

Child-free is a term used by folks that are sensible enough to resist the pressure to procreate that society foists upon all adults.

Yea if everywhere turns socialist we are fucked and many people will be dying off anyway because there just won't be enough competent people who can afford to keep growing, producing the food etc. It will look like Venezuela all over. People eating their pets to survive.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
