Thank you for welcoming me into this community. I am an early 40s academic and autistic. It's extremely challenging living as an autistic person in a neurotypical world.
I have thought of suicide often, but have no immediate plans. I am, however, confident that when my life does end, it will be a self-chosen death.
I struggle with severe depression and anxiety. I've had a suicide kit next to my bed for the past 5 years. It's probably expired and I'm looking into getting a new one.
Having ready-access to a suicide kit helps me to live a better life. It brings me great comfort to know that if life becomes unbearable, I can simply check out. I have extremely good impulse control and I do not feel there is a risk of making an impulsive bad decision to use the kit.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this community. I wish you peace and comfort whether it's in this world, or in checking out.
