Put more accurately, at what point should society accept someone's desire to die, rather than trying to convince them to live?
see now you speaking my language. it's our life. society should have no say on if I should take it or not. the only thing that should be done by society is ensuring our death is done properly and disposed of safely.I think it's none of society's fucking business. It's not a matter of policing and convincing, it's a matter of support. For whatever choice.
It just upsets me the way society treats this with the mentality being "you need to live until the bitter end". It's like, fuck that. Was thinking about this yesterday, society has done far worse than just making suicide illegal. They force people to jump off buildings, shoot themselves in the head, hang themself. It's like, just allow the purchasing of N and then the person can have a good death and donate organs etc to people who want to live. I'm going to die and my organs are going to go to waste. I'd feel better about my death if they were going to use, but nope.Put more accurately, at what point should society accept someone's desire to die, rather than trying to convince them to live?
It's probably be easier (but still very tough) to change society's mind about suicide if age was introduced into the discussion, perhaps in conjunction with any underlying health conditions one may have.
Sadly I don't think anyone would be able to diagnose ever a true mental condition and the impact on the individual. The only compromise I would accept would be for there to be a controlled environment where a guaranteed peaceful end would come with a cooldown period of 7 days where they could try real therapy to see if you have other options. And I don't mean throwing you in solitary and dosing you to the eyeballs eitherI think people should at least get a diagnosis before considering suicide but that's just my opinion
