  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

How many people would choose to end their lives tomorrow if assisted suicide was legal worldwide? My guess would be in the millions.

It would be a large number for sure.

For every person who 'CTB', dozens attempt to do so.
For every person who attempts to do so, hundreds plan to do so
For every person who plans, thousands contemplate.

I'd wager that a lot of people would start to do things they were previously afraid to do. Knowing they could die at any time is a safety net of sorts. They know they can always fall back on the assisted suicide when need be, but their mind might tell them, "Why rush it?" It's ironic in a sense, because the very thing so many of us crave could be the one thing to push us in a completely different direction, and maybe even give us a reason to keep on going. Pretty weird to think about.

^ that's why suicide as a way to control your life is a popular opinion, isn't it? You can flip the bird one last time before getting dragged through life, in a way no one can bring you back. You don't win, you don't lose, you just flip the table and break it in half with a kneecap hit.

It depends on what you mean. It can be hard to get approved and there can be long waiting times, if it is legalised everywhere, like it is in Belgium. However apart from that, many people are constantly suffering both, physical and mental and are still alive because it is hard to die and the survival instinct can make certain methods hard. This life is very cruel, so having a peaceful way out, people would take it.

However many people have family members that depend on them, so many would stay alive for that. Some people do not want to die, for various reasons, many of them have been more fortunate in life and more than likely have not suffered as much. Having this option would make for a more compassionate society. As humans we deserve the right to a peaceful death, to take control over our own lives. Being basically forced to suffer is cruel. So overall, many many would do it but not the whole population.

This is what happened to me when my sn finally arrived. It pushed me in another direction but I still haven't made any changes in my life. I'm caught between my fear of living and my fear of dying. It truly is a nightmare.

I think it should definitely be legalized. It would allow for an open discussion instead of having millions of people suffer in silence because they're afraid of being labeled as pathetic or weak. I guess compassion only goes so far. I know many people would change their lives for the better and those who really wish to die would be able to do so peacefully.
