I think they exist, but are hard to find. When I was on government insurance (still am, but about to be kicked off due to working now), I was able to see my therapist and psychiatrist for free

It probably depends on the location... In the country where i live, there is free therapy. We have free psychiatrists, psychotherapists and psychologists, free group therapy is also available, free psychiatric clinics. Although in small towns there is none of this, as well as paid medicine, as well as medicine in general. But i would like to say that this system works like shit, apart from rare exceptions

So I take it you're European perhaps? Idk if they have anything like that here in the US.

UsA has free Community Mental Health Centers. Google.

Depends on the city cause I tried looking it up in my city and I can't find anything.
Can you possibly get on government insurance and find a therapist who takes it?

As other people have said, in Europe we've the National Health Service (at least where I live) and yes we've those free appointments but it's also true that it's a nightmare to book them because the lack of slots.

In the USA I'm not aware of it, unfortunately. But maybe someone who also lives there can help you.

Regardless, the most important thing is that you're making a significant effort to try to recover and that in itself is to be congratulated and you should be proud of yourself.

I really hope you can find a solution and that it helps you feel better.

Take care. I wish you the best.

Free therapy can exist, but if you get it, it will be with therapists who are looking to get experience hours for their education. It's why they are willing to do it for free in the first place

There are, but the free options are likely going to be easy to see why they're free.

I am always wary of free or low cost therapists. I have done free therapy before at a woman's crisis center. Unfortunately, like with every mental health resource for struggling people, it was overstretched and couldn't see them as frequently as I needed to.

some things to try in the us:
-a clinic at a university. folks training to be mental health providers see patients for cheap or free and are overseen by a licensed doctor.
-see if you can get on medicaid or state insurance. sometimes it can be a pain to find a doctor that takes this insurance, but they are out there.
-get in touch with NAMI or a crisis line and see if they know of docs offering cheap/free services. I was connected with a doctor close to retirement who saw me for free at a difficult time in my life this way.

take care.
