An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
I don't know if there are any pro choice articles about SS but I do remember @RainAndSadness linking a scientific study of somebody realising that coercive suicide prevention isn't really effective and I think that theme sort of parallels with SS as the people here are against coercive suicide prevention and would rather have people be allowed the option to die peacefully and painlessly
Has anyone on here ever considered writing a profile/defense of the site on an independent longform media platform like Substack, Medium etc.? I know when it comes to SS one might think all publicity is bad publicity but I think the demographics of such platforms (as opposed to those of Youtube, Reddit, etc.) (the kind that read longform independent media) might be more... receptive? I get that there wouldn't be much of a point to this—the "point" would just be to ensure the site has more balanced media coverage for anyone who might be interested in it. Just wondering.
