So I'm wondering what people's experiences are of coming off venlafaxine is without psychiatrist agreeing? I'm on 150mg in morning and 150mg in evening if makes any difference.

My SI was less when I wasn't on this, although still suicidal whilst on it or without it.

I'm really sure I don't want to be here anymore for a variety of reasons.

Thanks in advance for any replies

Hello TJ.

As you know, I completely came off of all of my medication two months ago.

Point blank, cold turkey.

The WORST one was Venlafaxine (max dose in the morning.)

Nightmares, night sweats, intrusive images, flu like symptoms, the worst. It's an evil drug to come off of.

I just stopped it completely, but you may wanna taper.

By the way, of all of your medication, why do you want to come off of this one?

Hope this helps, and good luck.

To this point venlafaxine has been one of the most 'mixed bag' SSRIs I have been on. It worked decently well when I was on it but it was extremely hard to swallow and gave me occasional stomachaches. Withdrawals were mild for me but then again I wasn't on it for long (a little under three months) and had a smaller daily dose (150 mg per day) - I tapered off the dosage (progressively increasing the amount of time between dosages) . I'm currently on Fluvoxamine which is working better for me atm.

Thanks trying to weigh up my options. In regards to do my meds need reviewing by the psychiatrist? Is it just the therapy? Or is this just how life will be.

What's made you zone in on the venlafaxine, out of all of your meds?
