Anyone try to slit their throat?

I'm embarrassed to even ask this, but if I can ask here, I can't ask anywhere can I? I've been a "cutter" since I was 12 and have some very obvious scars on my wrist and left arm that will never go away. So grabbing a knife at the height of emotional pain isn't anything new to me. During a really bad fight with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago, I grabbed a knife from the butcher block and pushed it into the right side of my neck where I could feel my artery. Unfortunately, he saw me, and grabbed the knife. The cut was only about a half inch or so and not all that deep, but deep enough that it stayed open and bled a fair amount over the next couple days.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried or if you know anyone else who has done it successfully. It sounds brutal, but I'm not able to order SN at the moment and not sure I'd be able to get partial right.

I tried recently, I used a razor blade, made about 10 2" cuts (about 1 inch deep) on each side of my throat, I bled a lot but I never blacked out like I expected. I don't really know what i did wrong as far as i can tell I hit my carotid arteries but I guess It wasn't deep enough.

Yes, and also the survival instinct will most likely stop you from being able to go deep.

Are you sure that is 1 inch deep? It looks more like it is a 1 mm deep. Also how were you sure you hit your cartroids?

In "the heat of the moment", the pain doesn't really enter my mind. Unfortunately, I don't think I could do it unless I was at that boiling-over point.

I was attacked and got wounded in that area before. It bleeds like crazy and I bet you could easily bleed to death. Unfortunately it hurts just as much.

If you manage to go 1 inch I'd say that's it. Game over. There's not exactly a lot of fat in this area to protect you.

Ouch, sorry, that must have been frustrating. I'm afraid those are quite superficial cuts to just the first few layers of skin. The head and neck have a tendency to bleed a lot more than other areas of the body. This method has to be one of the hardest in my opinion.

I think there are other easier and less gruesome methods... i tried to cut my throat when i was 15 and cutting, but i didnt cut deeper than fornaxmm. And i was super suicidal at that moment.
But do you really want to die spurting blood out of your neck? It's a horrible sight for the one who discovers your body.

You're absolutely right, it IS horribly gruesome, but honestly, I'm somewhat over that part of it. Finding my body, in whatever state it's in, is going to be traumatic for whomever finds it (I'm assuming it's going to be my boyfriend at this point). The best I could do in any situation Is to try to minimize whatever "mess" I'm going to make. Honestly, I worry more about the emotional effect my passing will have on my dog and cat than my boyfriend. It sounds cruel, but if you knew the man, you'd understand.
