I am prescribed it as a prn for bipolar. When extremely agitated it shuts my brain the fuck up and helps me to calm down. It does not put me to sleep when I am like this. If I take it when I'm not agitated or manic it will make me sleep. As with other antipsychotics if you take it everyday the sleep side effect wears off.
As someone else mentioned it is notorious for weight gain. It doesn't just make you hungry and eat more but it alters your metabolism so that you would likely gain weight without increasing your food intake. Double whammy!
I had olanzapine when I went to the psych hospital for not sleeping 5 days during college because I became obsessed with studying. I felt so relieved when I had it.
Shittiest drug ever that made me puke, hallucinate, have involuntary movements and sleep through the whole week.Damn, sometimes I wish I wasnt schizophrenic and therefore wasnt treated with antipsychotics, because antipsychotics are hell
