It seems as though ever since I decided I was eventually going to ctb I can't sleep anymore. Even when i'm extremely tired i'll just wake up at 3am. Is this a common occurrence for you guys too?

Yes. I sometimes wonder if my insomnia will become fatal. Maybe death will come sooner. I try my best to sleep. I don't know how painful it Is to die to lack of sleep, but I'm trying my best to avoid that since I have no knowledge on that.

I really struggle to sleep right now. I was prescribed zopiclone and lorazepam for 4 days. That helped but now I don't have it I'm right back to where I started, struggling to sleep an anxious as hell :-(

It ruined my life completely. Got it from antipsychotic withdrawal. I feel horrible every day and wish to die honestly. I barely sleep at all, even on meds it's maybe half an hour in total. It is affecting my brain and I feel like I'm getting dementia.

Yes, can't sleep without meds. If scares me, and fuck, is it really antipsychotics that make you depressed and make it difficult to sleep? :/ That's just awful

Yes, am having it, too, on and off. At first I didn't realise what it was, because I thought insomnia is just not sleeping at all. Aooi
Pretty much have all of those, although the latter few I had before, due to mhi. Thing that worries me is that I sometimes can't differentiate between when I'm awake or asleep. Dreams and real experiences become muddled. It's still under control for the moment and I often sleep 5-7 hours, but I can see how it could become a problem at an advanced stage.

I usually got 6-8 hours of sleep before after electroshock "Therapy" it went down to like 2-:3, then after they put me on drugs was like 1-2!hlirs. Funny thing I I went into the psych ward because I was having Issuss causes my psych drugs. There wasn't anything wrong with me except not much sleep but they just cram heavy drugs down your throat as if it's a magic pill that fixes anything

Lack of sleep causes me to muddle dreams with reality too. I will find it hard to remember if a conversation I had was a dream I had in a rare sleep or in real life. It can get pretty confusing!

Yup but now I'm all screwed up from drugs and there's nothing they can help but drugs. I've been cold turkey off everything and it was Helen. Pacing 12+ hours a day plus barely eating or sleeping would make anyone wanna die. I just wish they gave out drugs you could OD peacefully on.

yes, it sucks, a few hours before i get this weird existential anxiety, when i finally lay in bed i get this creepy tinnitus and feel like i could fall every moment 'trough' my bed, as if materials no longer would exist.. sleep was one of the things i loved since i no longer am in pain but those days are over too i guess hahah
edit:
totally forgot about how easily i get scared when im about to fall asleep, like the most small thing like a bottle popping due to the room getting colder or any cars driving outside^^ its hilarious and theres nothing which helps except of benzos^^

I used to just sleep 1 -3 hours a night then be awake for maybe 24 - 26 hours, then sleep for 1 - 3 again. It was horrible, I was so tired I started hallucinating. I take sleepers now and they work well for me, I get a fairly reasonable amount of sleep but still struggle getting to sleep.

I relate to your issue of not getting any sleep. I've had a hard time going into the dream world myself... sleep is so far away. I hope it all eases for you soon.

Treat yourself with kindness, have a cup of tea. Read a good book. Try not to overworl your body in the meanwhile. x

Yes every damn night I have been struggling to fall asleep for many years now. I think I have delayed sleep phase syndrome too because I have never ever been able to fall asleep at a "socially acceptable" bedtime and hold a morning job.

I've had that experience too! I sleep for a few hours then am wide awake for more than a day! Then there are other times where I do nothing but sleep. Then I get broken sleep for a while then eventually back to sleeping a few hours then awake for more than 24 hrs. Not sure what exactly has caused this and when you have a psychiatrist tell you that you need regular sleep and routine, I can't figure out how to do that without some medicine, which they are extremely reluctant to prescribe.

Don't we have an insomnia mega thread?
I sleep around 2 hours a night. Have to pee every half hour to an hour so it's not even two straight hours. I've been like that for years.
You can survive on very little sleep but it is awful. I'm exhausted and anxious, jittery and have a bad memory. Strangely, I seem to process things faster. I feel cleverer but less capable.
I miss sleep so much, so very much.

I have a hard time falling asleep but when I do sleep I sleep 12+ hours, even sometimes 20 hours at a time. I hate this because I'm late at everything but I do prefer it from insomnia. It must be awful, hope it gets better for all of you :(

Yeah been having this problem too. I used to use lyrica, then I started using medicinal herbs instead and was surprised by how strong they can be. I use valerian, lemon balm, American skullcap, passionflower as tinctures and it knocks me out and gives me cool dreams. I also have to fix the time I get up and get into bed every day now to get good sleep.

Man I wish valerian would work for me. I spend a fortune on it, I hope that it will help I take it, loads of it and if it is working I don't think I'm getting any perceivable benefits :-/ I going to try lithium orotate (spelling? Lol) as I've read some good things. It should arrive in the mail soon. I'm crossing my fingers! :-)

I used to be out like a light and sleep 8-10 hours, but now I have broken sleep and some nights I don't sleep at all. The strange thing is I'm never tired. I think it has something to do with the medication I'm on.

I know what a terrible feeling it is. I had chronic insomnia. I could only sleep for 4 hours. Sleeping medications and passiflora did not work. A doctor friend recommended Atarax (hydroxyzine). It worked. It is a slow release itch medication. Side effect of the drug is sedation. As it is slow release, it makes it easy to fall asleep and allows you to continue sleeping. Its effect is 12 hours. You may feel bad when you wake up for the first few days. Dosage depends on your body weight. My weight is 100 kg. I use 42.5 mg (1.5 tablets). I also sleep in a light-insulated room and use ear plugs. Now i have a controlled insomnia. I recommend you to try Atarax. Also, Atarax is not addictive and you will not scratch :) I hope you sleep well.

Yikes! I feel bad for you! I've had the odd wake up in the night panic attack too! They really suck :-( I wish I could get something to knock me out so I could sleep but doctors/psychiatrists don't want to as I shouldn't rely on chemicals to sleep. That I need to learn for myself. Well I've tried really hard and nothing works or more accurately, it works for a little while then never again. I honestly don't see the point in going through the same vicious circle again and again where I get to crisis point and then I get sleep meds. I'm pretty sure that they secretly believe I just fancy getting my hand on some drugs for recreational purposes. :-( I just really want to sleep that's all.
