I don't see it as such really, I like hearing people's background and what they went through to get where they are, be proud to still be alive from what has been weathered type of thing, plus it carries more "weight" than mainstream horse shit. I just notice I'll send songs to people (norms) and to them it's "always sad music wahhhh" and to my buddies struggling it's "dude I fucking needed that". Just hate that both sides can't apprecite it as if the "norms" don't want to be influenced to not be so normal anymore lol.

Song like this... I would blast this shit and cruise like "supppp" lol but nah it's depressing fuck that, yet let's be bold on social media and talk about opioid epidemics and suicide rates... practice what you preach.

POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING

or like this especially... but the power of the lyrics just speaks volumes, I mention the trigger because I upset a friend of mine pretty bad.

a lot of times i trigger myself with depressed music, sometimes i relate with the lyrics of the song but sometimes just a depressed sound is enought, i should say i really like a lot of these kind of songs.

I listen to a lot of black metal. Not quite similar to metal, but I also listen to Twenty One Pilots. Most of lyrics of theirs strike a chord with me and I just like the band in general.

I do actually, I tend to listen to Bright Eyes and Belle and Sebastian more. Not all songs are depressive though.

Yeah I get the energy thing lol I lean toward rap/hip-hop music but go for the faster and more lyrical music. I also listen to metal, Parkway Drive or Upon a Burning Body type of metal . Not always depressing I guess, but always some sort of strong emotion and never just a song thats "ladi dah" and has no purpose I suppose.

Absolutely. It's all I can listen to. It's all I understand. It's cathartic. You know at that moment someone was feeling what you're feeling and that's like getting a huge hug whereas 'happy' music is like a slap in the face. A person who won't shut up

I do at times. Music that sounds slow and sad. Though it depends on my mood.

I usually listen to video game and movie music, maybe not "depressing" music as what most people consider depressing, but sometimes music that is instrumental and or evokes a similar emotion, I associate with sadness or dread, doom, what not. I cannot really explain my logic here as I subconsciously attach different emotions and meanings to different music. I'm more of a instrumentalist than a lyricist though.

Depressing music is what fuels me, I can't live without it. I have moments where I prefer to listen to some upbeat stuff, but for the most part, depresso is the way to go. Here's a few of my most sad favorites.

Antihoney - Siren (Demo) (Check her out for a few other sad gems)

Nine Inch Nails - Right Where It Belongs V2
Andreas Rönnberg - Dark City (Check this guy out for a bunch more sad stuff)

The National - Exile Vilify

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Yeah, definitely DEPRESSING, but ultimately true.
