Anyone else get depressed during the summers, more so in particular? I am a recently homeless, (a few months) and as someone who always enjoyed the cool weathers, being stuck outside in the heat just makes fighting for life even more terrible. Anyone else have this summer depression?

Yes, most people have it in winter. I really hate the heat, its just an uncomfortable feeling and I find it hard to sleep when it is warm. There is lots of annoying lawnmower noises which hurt my ears.

yess!! I hate the summer, mainly because of the dichotomy between me and others. People tend to go out, enjoy the beach, sun, sports, friends etc yet I'm depressed inside my home doing nothing. It also reminds me of how life used to be before I got ill, before this I really enjoyed the summer and all the activities yet I can't anymore, so it brings more grief. I sense that I'm going to have a hard time this summer and I really wish I wasn't here anymore.

So sorry to hear you're going through this! I can't imagine how tough being homeless must be.

As for summers, I don't mind them but I prefer spring.

Hope things get better somehow!

Hugs and love,

Matt

Yeah at least in the winter you have more of an excuse to hide away and isolate yourself, whereas in the summer people expect me to actually do stuff lol

Summer is actually a time when I feel a bit better. I have less suicidal thoughts due to sun rays, sunbathing, swimming. And I don't need to wear multiple layers of clothing, I just can throw on a light summer dress and go out. I think moving to Southern Europe would help me a lot, living in Northern Europe can be really depressing.
But I understand that there are people who absolutely can't stand the summer for many reasons. A good idea would be to move somewhere North.
But for a homeless person it's better to be somewhere warm. It's not ideal of course. But damn, last winter was so cold where I live, I know some homeless people who suffered horribly - got frostbites, gangrene, one man cut off his toes with a knife because his feet were gangrenous and the hospital didn't want to let him in. Another poor man died horribly sheltering himself from the wind, snow and extreme cold.

I love summer and warmth.
But when you are in a depressive phase, the inner state does not match the outer environment.
And that doesn't feel good, even though it is good.

Being homeless would also be a reason for me to end my life immediately.

I'm on the very verge of it! Just trying to find a method for me.

Back when I was a little kid with nothing to worry about, I would be so happy in the summer because it meant no school. But now the summer is just as depressing as any other season. No friends to make summer memories with, no fun things to do, it's all just pain.

Lonliness seems to always be a big cause in all of our sadness. I'm sorry.
