the end of human civilization wouldn't be caused directly by the virus itself but the social dysfunction that results from it such as riots, fighting for resources, mass shootings, and the whole human society going down into chaos to the point that will never be recoverable.

maybe nukes would be used at some point. humans will go back to the stone age and it'll be something out of a hollywood movie.

i picture myself walking away from the rubble of civilization and into the wilderness far far away from it all and sitting down under a tree, drinking my SN. what a great way to go that would be.

i think the reason im excited to go out under that scenario would be because if civilization is destroyed and daily survival becomes a challenge, my suicide would be justified and i feel any remaining family members would understand and i wouldnt feel so much guilt which is currently the ONLY thing stopping me from ctb which i desperately want.

i know its not likely but id also love if something else big happens to stir things up even more, like a big solar flare knocking out power grids or a big asteroid hitting earth..how many people in history of humankind get to see their civilization end in such a big way? id feel kind of privileged to be able to see that.

I struggle to see it as a good thing. In my opinion the world doesn't need a apocalypse, people just need to wake up. Especially given this virus effects the elderly and the vulnerable, it's not exactly a demographic I can get excited about being eradicated.

A apocalypse would wipe out so many people who have the drive of life in them still. If you want to leave this life then that's your decision, when the decision is taken from you and its forced, its tragic imo.

I understand where you're coming from, I just look at it differently I suppose

this isnt gonna sit well with many but i think an apocalypse is exactly whats needed. too many evils in human civilization and too little positive things. ending human civilization would end so much suffering for everyone, including the billions of animals being caged and slaughtered every year.

yes it wouldnt be fair to people who have the drive of life in them, but i think the relief of suffering of so many would be a good thing that should be more important.

Yeah I'm not so excited about that. My mom is already sick and she wouldn't survive under such a scenario. It's already not looking good. But that's besides the point. I feel like you are just idealizing the idea of a perfect situation where you can ctb and not hurt anyone else. Or see something like out of a Hollywood movie, even though I doubt things would play out the way you yhink they would. Things won't end up that way, and a lot of people are already suffering to the extreme. It's not something you can sit on the sidelines and watch.

We are definitely a species that is detrimental to most things around us, I wont deny that ha. That said, even though we may not be doing it perfectly, human life is a precious thing to me. I wish I still had the drive for life, I miss it.

I dont want the world to end, I dont want millions of unwilling people to die. I rather wish for change in us as a whole. Its possible to peacefully coexist with earth, nature, and eachother, we just dont.

I'm only excited if I get to die. The chaos … not so much. I still have family & friends that I care about. I wouldn't want them to live through that.
Some of society deserves what is coming to them though. Especially the rich assholes who just use us and discard us after they are finished with us.

It's hard for me to think about because I see reality as defined by perception. I can't really be sure this world is even real.. whatever "real" means. So I just don't really care that much. I know that fucked up shit has happened to me and more fucked up shit will happen to me. Fucked up shit has happened to each one of you guys and that's not gonna end either. We have all been dying since we were born. Just passing time. I don't invest a whole lot in this reality. I don't believe it's the end of consciousness.
If the human race dies out.. we die out. I hate to be the existentially mind fucked dude who cant bring it back down to reality but it's just hard for me to care about humans. Oh well. So what. At least that's how I see it. This whole thing is gonna go down what ever way it goes down and you and I can only do so much. It's kind of fun to sit back and watch..
Reality tv anyone?
i bought that last bags of popcorn at my local Safeway so I'm all set

question is good, interesting.
An apocalyptic scenario must to be living into wuhan during 40 days. Now India was lockdown. 1.3 or 1.4 billion people.
That is what makes exciting me. How are they going to do that?.

So you want human civilization destroyed and millions of people to suffer just so that YOUR suicide would appear "justfied" and so that YOU would feel less guilt?

This has got to be the epitome of a "selfish suicide".

I was doing good the past few months. But the virus isnt good for my anxiety.
Its not the virus itself i fear, its what comes after. Like a global financial crash, hyper inflation, no job and so on.
Being dead or living in poverty, broke, no hope. I'd rather end it myself and thats why i look again for a way out if shit hits the fan.

In the end i think the stuff the governments now do will kill more people in the long run than the virus ever could.

if it happens it happens, not my fault it would help me feel less guilty about suicide. its not selfish because im not doing anything to cause it to happen

If society gets through this relatively unscathed and rebuilds within a few years, then the survivors would arguably be less likely to change their behaviour than if society utterly collapses and brings us to the brink of extinction. In the latter scenario, the smaller number of survivors would be more likely to be more deeply affected at a fundamental level and be more careful to build a more resilient and sustainable society the next time around.

kind of. But the mortality rate isn't that high, and I don't fit into the risk category. Plus, if other people want to live, fine! As long as I don't have to slave over them anymore and take care of them....I am planning on quitting my job in healthcare......I am just so burned out.....

I wholeheartedly agree with Hollow Point, however, I am also not afraid of said scenario because I would be one of those people who would thrive in such a chaotic environment. My entire life has prepared me for such an existence, so, while I in no way wish such a scenario on humanity, I somewhat welcome it simply because the odds would be in my favor. For once.

I agree completely. I'd rather see humanity get its shit together (even if the chances are slim). I just can't get excited over a scenario where innocent people would die or get fucked over simply for being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I used to have thoughts of how an apocalyptic earth would be cool but once i'd really thought about it it doesn't appeal.
If an apocalypse selectively wiped out the people who do serious harm to humans and animals i'd be all for it but it won't, it'll kill good people too so i'm not excited about it.

Not really. Rubbish food(when you can get it), dangerous all the time and poor medical treatment.

I'll watch it happening on TV far away from me but struth, let it happen somewhere else. I have done my time walking around with a gun on my hip, don't want that back.

anyone else feel excited over possible fictional corona virus apolocalyptic scenerio?

I'm really depressed , I hate humans* , and I wish for the world to end . Though , ironically , in that case I'd have the desire and will to live (always said remote shed in the forest is fine with me) . I don't have any specific desire for apocalypse ... Just beam them up Scottie . Though I'm a city rat from birth , I love seeing everything empty without obnoxious pushy rude nasty oxygen wasting potatoes , also known as 'humans' .

* depressed due to humans..

I can't see the end of human extinction, sadly maybe over one million deaths, but as we are forced to self isolate and stay inside, most people will be humping like bunnies so will probably create 20 million new life's.

The virus seems to be killing people of all ages, even without underlying health problems. Strange virus some people have it with no symptoms others have mild symptoms and then some people have severe symptoms. I hope they get a vaccine soon so I can get back on plan with ctb as I can't book a hotel, OMG, the virus is keeping me alive, lol.

From my perspective that would be to good to be true to ever happen.
I would like nothing more than to know that this cruel, evil, sick, failed society was certain to be crumbling or extinction of the species was iminent. But nothing positive ever happens in this existence.
