how did you stop? i'm guessing you grew out of it
I suppose I did. I stopped actually after losing a lot of really valuable stuff because I was tabbed out. I just don't get into video games like I used to now.

I'm p addicted to games, tho it's mobile for now as I haven't been able to get a new gaming console in YEARS. My home screen is completely fucked as it's just filled w these stupid ass games, that I'll replace in a few weeks/days from now anyway. I rlly don't get the point, tho I do keep rehashing the same shit over and over again. I get bored, download smth new and get bored again.

I used to be addicted. It wasn't that I necessarily enjoyed it much anymore, but it was an escape and provided predictability/order in my life. :nomouth:

Plus the flashy lights and clear objectives keep people hooked lol

Pretty addicted to League of Legends for sure. Tried to rationalize it for a while by saying I was just super competitive, then I realized those aren't mutually exclusive things and they definitely are both true lol

I'm shamelessly addicted to the sims. So much so I taught myself 3d modeling and how to create pretty much anything I want to put into the game. So at least there is a positive to that addiction which is I'm learning something incredibly difficult but useful outside of just gaming. I don't play much anymore simply because life gets in the way. Making things takes hours sometimes days with a session here and there, leaves no playing time.
Only when I'm not incredibly depressed does it actually help.

I was really hooked on them but I don't play like I used to anymore. I spend more time making them instead of playing them now.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted, but it's pretty much all I do. I don't have friends, no where to go, nothing else to do. It calms me. Occupies my mind, otherwise I'd go insane.

What's your rank? I used to play it pretty religiously then my real addiction came with ARMA 3 role playing servers. Man I'd be up all night, sleep a couple hours and be up all night again. Ordering food in, just being lazy and unproductive.

You've gotta quit. That game is so toxic. I used to play it and it ruined relationships and made me so irritable. Even winning isn't satisfying after a while because you're still annoyed at mistakes. Quit, never look back, and life gets easier. It is like heroin; it is destructive in how addictive it is.

I need to listen to my own advice and do the same thing with Rocket League again now... Some of these games are just havens for the worst people.

I used to be so much to the point I would lag behind on my studies.
Nowadays... It's strange. Almost as if motivation for it is going completely empty.
I wish... I wish at times I could play as well as before, too. Feeling that sort of fun from video games.

I used to be, back in the day when everything was pretty much for the PC and cost 50-60USD apiece. Then the mega patches started coming out and constant upgrading of hardware just to play the next new thing. Lots of money wasted. Now I rarely play anything except some wargames on the pc.

I was addicted to GTA Online but it was super toxic. One day I rage quit so hard I yanked the game disc out and snapped it in half. I don't miss it.

This is like when your body triggers the vomit reflex when it detects something toxic, haha. Glad you broke free!

I know more people addicted to league than I do to drugs and having been an addict of both I can easily say league is by far the most toxic game to ones life as a whole than some drugs are and thats fucking insane.

A friend with BPD spiraled from one loss in league to a complete breakdown severely harming herself in the process. League and people don't mix but league and mental illness? It's just disaster waiting to happen. So I second this hard as hell, quit it before any more damage happens.

After playing so many games the formulaic nature of most of them means they can get super stale. It takes some very interesting mechanics to truly engage me now.
Also, when you see games as like an achievement-lite it kind of dilutes the joy for me in completing one. It's nothing like the joy of mastering an instrument or language. In fact, the reasons games are enjoyable is because they concentrate the experience of growth into a few hours.
I'm playing Hollow Knight which got great reviews but I've played a fair few metroid and castlevania games as well as some indie metroidvanias that despite the art direction and worldbuilding, I ain't getting much from it.
Sorry, to answer the actual question... no, I guess not.
