Anybody here survived Suicide by amputation? What's your story?

As per title. I'm considering cutting my leg or arm off as a method. Any thoughts/experiences?

Iirc things like stabbing and amputation often fail because there is a lot of SI to get through to be successful. Its incredibly painful, has to be accurate, may be time-consuming and all this has to be done while youre bleeding out. Its just not practical, youd have better luck jumping in front of a train and even that seems unpleasant and somewhat risky

Well, if you miss the heart, you'd likely hit the lung and suffocate from a pulmonary hemorrhage.

Still, so much better than amputation. Fuck, even hacking away until you get an artery in an arm, leg, or neck is mild by comparison.

Not the best idea in my opinion. While it is certainly effective as you will bleed out in minutes, cutting off limbs takes a huge amount of force for someone that doesn't know where to cut. Even then, it's unlikely that you can amputate with just one swing.

Not to mention in the event that you are found and saved, now you are now down a arm or leg. Not fun.

It's hard to toe the line between calling out possible/probable trolls while somehow trying to remain empathetic/understanding "just in case". I called exactly one person out for something along these lines and they came back at me and insisted they were serious. I don't think method talk should be off the main forum though, just that the community and mods should not be afraid to call out this kind of dumb stuff when it pops up. Having multiple forums a few weeks back kind of awkwardly splintered the conversations and I wasn't a fan of that, seemed like people weren't sure what to post where sometimes (also, for the lazy among us, it was a bit more "work" to check two forums). I see what you're saying though and agree with the sentiment.

Yeah you're right, it is a ridiculous idea.
It came to mind as it displays an extraordinary amount of aggression as well as likely being fatal.
I was also curious to hear if anyone else had tried this.
Part of my depression stems from being maimed and neglected when I was very young and how it continues to affect me to this day. I figured if I'm gonna kill myself I might as well send a message regarding how sick I am of being in pain at the same time. I probably shouldn't think like this though.
I apologise if I've upset anyone.

I saw a tiktok fairly recently of a young woman who tried to CTB by cutting her arm off with a bandsaw. It obviously didn't show the attempt, but she was talking about it & how she has recovered & had to adapt to her new life with only one arm. She seems to be in a better mindset. I don't remember her username.
