• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I'm currently visiting family and have no way to attempt to ctb (even if I inevitably fail) or to sh in my usual way (choking with a belt). Anyone have any way to dissuade these thoughts at least for a few days?

I guess just try to distract yourself as much as possible. Try to have a good time with your family.

I'm sorry you are in such a dark place. Might be worth posting this again on the Recovery thread- expect people there may have more tips on how to repress these thoughts. Good luck to you.

Try distracting yourself. Watching trash tv works for me.

These types of threads are not what this part of the forum is meant for, this certainly belongs in the recovery section. But the way that I see it, the reality is that as long as we exist we basically have no choice but to suffer. It must be so awful and tiring being trapped in that situation, but best of luck.

Distraction or cannabis. But probably both.

You can spend time with your folks. Make memories and distract yourself. Spend less time alone. Always REMEMBER, you have a choice. Take care!

Watch a movie with your family or something. I find getting immersed in a video game helps.

Focus on the external world, like counting things or noticing what color things are. This can help take you out of the intense inner focus on how you feel.
Also, try to laugh, especially at yourself. We are absurd creatures in so many ways. Maybe try listen to a comedy podcast or something, my favorite is Conan O'Brien needs a friend.

Try induced syncope. On a bed preferably, or soft ground.

I don't know if this will help but maybe you could set a countdown timer down to when you could go home or when you could finally be alone to take your path? That way whenever those thoughts arise, you could take a peek at your timer and be reassured that you are free to make your choice in x number of days, y minutes, and not forever locked out of your choice. This may sound stupid because you obviously already know you'll be able to go home in x days, but this just serves as a visual reminder

I got a sheet of ideas from my therapist with different ways to stop intrusive thoughts. The one that worked for me was when the intrusive thought appears, try mocking the thought in a silly or comic voice. It worked wonders for me. If not, there are other ways on the sheet, I could probably get a copy of it and send you you in pdf format if you need it.
