That's the hell I live with

I managed to give myself rope burn when I attempted today.
I have work in an hour. Calling up sick isn't an option, and I can't hide it either.
My husband will know what it is straight away. He knows I attempted yesterday too.
I just need an excuse.

Can you cover it with makeup?

I really can't think of any good excuse.

How prominent is it? I had one once that was thin and low on my neck, and I said it was a mark the seatbelt left when someone pulled out in front of me and I had to stand on the brakes to stop immediately.

Scarf
High neck shirt
Big necklace
Foundation to cover tattoos

Hope you get it sorted, do you use hair straighteners? Can say you caught your neck.

If it's cold where you are, say you got a rash from a new scarf you got for Christmas. It's only in one place since that's where you coat didn't cover.

Depending how bad and how far around it is you could say you're allergic to a necklace maybe? Or your burnt yourself straightening your hair.

Allergic reaction to wool jumper.
Cover with a scarf.
Mark from a choker you wore too tight.
Allergy to the metal on a necklace you were wearing.
Reaction to a new perfume
Cover with makeup.
Wear a high necked jumper
Wear a silk scarf (small) tied around your neck as a formal accessory.

Is it red or bruised? If it's red and not obviously ribbed I would say allergic reaction or something and throw in that you took some Benadryl

Is it possible to wear a turtle neck or something? If not maybe use makeup?
