In a previous thread, I showed one example of why CTB'ing by police or cop is a bad idea. Here is another example of why trying to CTB via the police or cop is a bad idea and can lead to even more awful consequences. I don't think the man was charged, but he could have easily been charged with some crimes (pointing a "replica" weapon at law enforcement or even trespassing or something). It is just overall a bad situation turned even worse, plus now he has medical and legal bills to worry about as well as an injured leg.

I was considering this too. They can simply shoot in the leg and call an ambulance...
Many people who are assaulted by a person with a knife will probably do that as well.
The only way to succeed is... Well, I won't tell this. Don't want officers to experience huge stress when they do so.

Police never shoot to maim as such, they only ever shoot to definitively end the threat. Which is not technically the same as shooting to kill, although in practice these usually overlap. With this goal in mind, they always aim at the largest target to give themselves the most chance of hitting it, this being centre mass (i.e torso). If someone is shot in the leg, it's usually because the officer missed a centre mass shot rather than intentionally. Just read the article, and the fact that the officer fired three shots and only one hit him also supports this view.

I wonder what he was high on as that might be the answer to survival instinct. Then again he was young as he just a teenager so his emotions could have already been all over the place. I had to take drugs to overcome my SI in previous attempts, though it's still hard. There's always that little something that tells you keep going.

Very good point, no need to stress the situation especially with this corona virus.

I've had ideas in the past of CTB with law enforcement before... Never.

I've thought about this but some are pretty handy marksman these days like ex forces they recruit and can imagine getting my knees, cock and balls blown off as if I'm not in enough pain already.

My mother tried this method about 10 years ago. (she's mostly the opposite demographic of the kind of person who usually tries it). She ended up with a good lawyer, and basically got off completely. (But she managed to blame me because "my depression makes her misreable").

Did I mention I want to die?
