Many of suicidal people use anime girls as avis, but that not the main reason
They are so cute and radiate some sort of happiness that I was not able to get or could get but it was too short lived and disappeared forever

it's funny becoz this is the pipeline for some trans women, it's like seeing uninhibited fluffy cuteness and feminine expression makes the things you've been repressing bubble up

even for everyone in general, though, i think it's a thin line between idealistic expression and fetishism sometimes. sort of like looking at someone on social media posting curated snippits of their life and thinking that it's actually a lived reality and feeling bad about yourself for it

the art style and surrounding culture realy is just taking everything that produces serotonin and dopamine and filling a bucket with it. some ppl have less-than-wholesome artwork as their profile pictures sometimes and it's sort of jarring to me. dehumanization jumpscare...! ultimately it's just important to separate fiction from reality

They are so cheery and happy, I just pretend sometimes that I am also cute and cheerful when I use anime pfps
