The thing that will finish me off is the knowledge of the horrific things that humans subject animals to.
The horrors of factory farming, the barbarity of the ways that monkeys and other animals are experimented on and psychologically destroyed in labs, seal clubbing, whale harpooning, psychologically and physically 'breaking' elephants and other wild animals in circuses, live baiting in greyhound training (
), and the list goes on.
Being deliberately cruel to animals is something I cannot fathom.
When I see images of humans subjecting animals to torture I just want to blow my brains out for being human, and because I know that I'm powerless to stop it.
I guess it's a way of overcoming SI for me.

i.e the australian greyhound scandal where piglets, possums and rabbits were secretly filmed being tied to mechanical lures to be chased, caught and attacked by greyhounds for up to 30 minutes. Some animals had young forcibly taken and given to dogs whilst trainers laughed, mocked and cursed at them. One poor creature was mourning the death of its young whilst the trainers just stood there mocking it. Another poor animal's spine came back broken in half after a few rounds being chased, to be laughed at by those present
