I just learned that Anderson Cooper's brother killed himself. I saw this video on YouTube and the comments. What do you think? Another pro-life propaganda.

Only focusing on the people left behind, as if he did it do ruin their lives or something...

It is always easier to be involved and care when you're dead than when you're alive.

Kinda cringe really. They act like other people are some kind of survivors because you were overwhelmed by your pain and roped. This is why I don't care about hurting others with suicide. People are a joke.

I think it's a fair video, mostly talking about how it affected them, largely, I imagine, to comfort those who have been through the same

I can't access the video in OP, but I am quite curious about the mother's claim in her book that Carter's suicide was "most definitely" caused by an adverse reaction to theophylline, an asthma medication delivered by inhaler. She writes that similar medications have been known to cause 'psychotic' symptoms.

I only skimmed through it, but the narrative in her book (starting at ch. 45) is quite detailed about the events immediately leading up to and including the moment he jumps. (It's not available as an e-book but someone uploaded a scanned copy to the Internet Archive, https://archive.org/details/mothersstory00vand)

The initial New York Times article about his death notes he had been undergoing treatment for depression.

This is real life despite how we feel about those around us in these dark times. The trauma many of us have experienced will be felt by others with our suicide. Thinking otherwise is a tricky way of coping. Most available literature points to this stuff too, it's science just like our depression. We are imposing a preexisting condition on those who love us, regardless of conflict, and we may love back. It may open their eyes while being too late to act on. In so many ways ignorance is bliss :(

It's my #1 deterrent to ending the self pain. Also full of cognitive theories that clash with each other... such as I am not responsible for the happiness of others just like they're not responsible for mine. Messy topic
