Discussion An elderly man dies from his own booby trap

Here is a news article of an elderly man who died by his own booby trap. It is interesting that he rigged the trap as an firearm set to go off and shoot the intruder coming in. Since this is death related and possibly a suicide method, I'm discussing it here. Personally, I don't recommend using an contraption to indirectly CTB as that leaves more variables to chance and things to go wrong. Based on some of the posts from the past, I do not fully trust using something indirect like that with a high chance of error. Also, it seems like this guy wasn't truly trying to die, but just happened to be unfortunate.

At any rate, what are your guys' thoughts on this?

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a Sherlock Holmes story in 1922, "The Problem of Thor Bridge," in which a very similar scenario was described. Instead of a balloon. the woman who committed suicide had tied the revolver she used to a weight which she hung over the parapet of a bridge. When she shot herself the weight fell and dragged the gun into the river below.
