Discussion An apology to daystavro

I recently contributed to some discussion of whether the recently "banned" Daystavro was a scammer, offering specific evidence that he was.

It turns out he was not a scammer. He was "banned" at his own request --this was confirmed to me by the Moderator I contacted about him-- but returned to ss for at least enough time to continue our PM and explain himself to me. I see that he is now, again, "banned," so I doubt further communication is likely.

This is my apology to him: Daystavro, I was dead wrong to see malice in caution and need.

It is also a caution to others in case they are, like me, so on edge about scammers that they forget the simple precautions others might take on a public forum. There are many reasons someone might deliberately misrepresent their personal details, as well as reasons why they might cut themselves off from the forum. Daystavro has some of those reasons.

I feel bad because I didn't get to say goodbye to him before he banned himself, I left his message a few days and by then he'd gone >.<

Daystavro PM'ed me earlier today and yes, he did contact a moderator to get banned at his own request. I hope he is able to find peace and be successful with his method.

It's still alarming to me that he says he is from US, Israel and then Italy to me....so who knows.... I also noticed that he was viewing this thread earlier... so he is not completely off SS yet

Daystavro pointed out to me that Israelis are not always viewed kindly throughout the world, so he chose to present from another country until he had sounded me out. This makes perfect sense to me. I live in a city where there is a considerable amount of hostility toward the nation of Israel; a local heroine was killed by an IDF bulldozer and the city has not forgotten. I doubt I would do any differently than he did if I thought it would cloud the information I hoped for if everyone were focussing on where I was from.

He mentioned he might return long enough to post an explanatory final thread. I hope he does, and that I see it in time to offer him a farewell and best hopes for peace.

He messaged me earlier today and told me what happened. He was pretty upset about everything. Daystravo is good people as far as I'm concerned. We usually talk some in PM once a day or so. He never tried to sale me N or ask for money. We just have casual conversations about life and what we did that day. Zero red flags.

I should take the opportunity to apologise here also, l made some unkind and rather acidic comments in the wake of him being mistakenly outed as a scammer, which l now regret.

I never got the vibe of him being scammer, by the nature and consistency of his threads and posts. I found his suffering genuine

well whatever Daystavro was... scammer, con man, or whatever.... he and his aliases are banned from SS
