• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It always feels like I'm the one who's being dramating, overreacting
I feel ashamed everytime I feel extremely upset with something going on in my life no matter what, the first thought that comes to mind is "People are suffering far more than you are right now, your problems are nothing compared to theirs"
But I still can't ignore the negativity my problems give me, especially with those thoughts
That's why I don't talk to anyone about them
It just feels wrong to feel slightly upset when these thoughts start flooding in and making what I'm going through seem absolutely meaningless but it just backfired and makes me feel more shitty and it just makes me feel like I'm a horrible person or that I'm not grateful enough for anything
Especially with actual people telling me multiple times that I'm just overreacting and that it's not that serious
Even though it's genuinely affecting my life, I can't seem to care enough to do anything about it
because again, maybe I'm the one who's being dramatic
I don't even know anymore, did anyone else feel this way before? :/

My mummy used to say, " If I have no shoes, why would telling me that someone has no feet cheer me up ?"
Knowing other people are in misery sure doesn't seem likely to ease yours. Just underline how shitty this world can get.

Such an interesting saying! Kind of highlights how we all have our own problems and someone else suffering doesn't diminish our pain.

Whenever you are going through a rough patch you'll almost always hear the words "just get over it" or "it isn't that serious—push through it." It's generic and relatively meaningless advice, but there's not much else that can be done to help externally—at least not in my experience. It tends to be counterintuitive because I can almost guarantee that most of the time it'll make me feel like my problems are extremely easy to 'solve' and that I should be ashamed for being an aimless, pathetic, mess

You aren't being dramatic at all—you're getting platitudes shoved down your throat. We all have our own issues (I'm using a platitude myself—sorry), but it doesn't mean we can't be empathetic. I'm a relatively selfish person and, as a result, I think that you should always focus on yourself first—your actions, your feelings, your thoughts, etc. Don't concern yourself with being overtly grateful for everything—no one chooses what life they're born into. If you embrace being a little selfish, then you can start to quell those subsequent negative thoughts you get about having negative feelings. It's awful since you doubt yourself and your own thought processes; You start forgetting 'who' or 'what' you are. I was tired of feeling that way for months on end, so I became selfish and embraced mediocrity

I think what SVEN and Electra said convey my thoughts more clearly (and in a much more concise manner)—I might have said more than what is needed
