So I totally just had a panic/anxiety attack while showering. I don't know how to tell my mom that I keep having them more and more frequently or that I'm having them at all (she doesn't know anything). Someone help me find a way to tell her without freaking her out.

I'd seek help (medical maybe) ... Also look online for videos and advice from people who suffer panic attacks. I once did a calming video during one of my panic attacks. There are tricks though.

It really sucks when something like that hits you all of a sudden. I'd probably recommend being open and honest with your mom, there are definitely ways to get help that you could pursue together. Is there anything in your life making you stressed out? Maybe you still have a chance to fix these things and reduce the anxiety. Meditation/yoga/excercise really can help if you're brains not totally
Ruined and on fire from depression or whatever.

I've been thinking about it and I trailed it back to when I decided I was going to try out for my school cheer team. But I have this gut feeling that I should be doing soccer or softball or something different you know? But the excited look my mom gave me when I told her I was going to try out is too precious for me to destroy. Ever since then I guess my lies kept building up and now I'm here...

It's alright. I've heard of seizures before and suddenly started getting Gran Mals for no apparent reason.
Alright, so it's not a great comparison, but still...
Reading a little up I see you don't want to let your mom down. That's understandable, but I say you should ease her way into it. I had to do the same with my father on a different topic.

So you told her you'd try out for the cheerleading team and she was excited, but maybe you don't really want to try out for the team? Something about trying out for the team is stressing you? Come clean to her, tell her you don't really want to be on the cheer leading team.

Yeah that sucks. I know alot about doing things for the wrong reason and then shit starts to build after that. What I do know is that you really have to do what makes you happy and be true to yourself. Idk how many years you have left in school but maybe you can still do the other sports? Maybe not idk. But it would probably help to at least talk to your mom or somebody about whats going on. Maybe you can sort out the panic attacks and then lesson learned- live for yourself after that? It might be worth a shot, it sounds like you're fairly young. Lots of cool shit happens after you're finished with school if you have your head on straight. My life was great for awhile till I messed it up and did things not true to myself then spiralled into super deep depression. Hopefully this helps. If not, hey we all have the option to end our lives after we exhaust all options.

Yeah and if you tell her you did it to make her happy then she'll probably feel flattered that you care so much about her. Then we you explain the problems you've been having she'll understand that you need to do something different.

I know how scary panic attacks can be, specially when they first start (I have nocturnal ones, feels like dying). The others are right, look for breathing techniques, meditation, yoga, seek advice from a professional if you need it (that doesn't necessarily mean a shrink, a yoga instructor can be helpful too). Try to come clean with your mom, explain to her that maybe being on the team is not for you if it causes you such stress. Hopefully she will care more about your health than cheerleading.

Edit: and BTW, you're not crazy :)

Maybe get into surfing since by your name it sounds like you're into the ocean. School sports aren't for everyone, ha.

Find a way to tell her without freaking her out? She's your mom and anxiety attacks happen to hundreds of millions of people. Just bring it up and ask about therapy or seeing a doctor (if that is what you wish for)

Be honest with her. You can't prevent her from feeling a certain way, but at least you can be honest.

Tell her you've been experiencing anxiety and panic attacks recently, and ask for her support in developing some strategies/ways to manage and address it. She's your mother and most likely, she's on your side.

Yeah, I used to surf when I lived by the ocean but about 2 years ago I moved pretty far. The ocean is now like 3 hours away from me and me mom would die before letting me drive that far.
