I have had a drinking problem for about a year. I drink every night, and I feel like I can't stop. At around 6pm every evening, my body starts asking for it again, and I patiently wait for the craving to kick in before I start so it can be more enjoyable.

But needing to drink is also very annoying in the sense that my night basically ends from the moment I start. I'm too dumb and spaced out to focus on anything, and I have lost countless hours where I could have been doing something productive or pro-social.

For the sober ones out there, how do you cope at night? Are there any methods you use to keep the thoughts at bay that don't involve drugs?

You might try getting up an hour or two earlier and doing some exercise. This might help you be extra tired at night so that it takes the edge off.

Once your body gets used to such a procedure, it will definitely not be easy to stop.
You will definitely be restless, maybe even trembling.

It takes up to a week for the body to function normally again.

Take a warm shower or bath, warm milk with honey - anything that relaxes you. In any case, drink plenty of water, juice, etc., and a magnesium supplement will help.

Do you have a good friend or family member who might be able to help you?

Cbd helps to relax and is not addictive. Not to my knowledge at least. I not thc and does not produce any psychoactive effects. You can eat it in form of gellies or candy and it is prescribed for elderly and children with epilepsy.

Do you play video games? I restarted my go-to RPG classics and they have helped me ignore the cravings. I know I'm trading one addiction for another but $14.99/month for the Xbox game pass is superior financially and medically to guzzling booze like I was.

I'm struggling with this too. A big stumbling block for me is not really wanting to stop drinking, and just feeling like it's something that I "should" get a handle on. Just going to bed early does the trick for me a lot of the time, but I'd rather stay up and be drunk, as counterintuitive as that is.

Xanax (alprazolam) for a few weeks then quit it then try some therapy if you believe it. I'd personally recommend art-therapy (Drawing, painting, etc.).

ask your doc for pregabalin, or get some weed and prepare it for oral consumption (it affects you differently when you eat it)

He asked for a way not including drugs either, bit I guess there's no such thing.

Excuse me, how? I can't use information correctly (stupid) so I can only make out you mean self-hypnosis and NLP practices, which I am sorry, but are a sales gig for popular psychologists and business people on Amazon. Real self-hypnosis and NLP is probably only used by mediators and psychiatrists of a very limited circle, through a lot of years of practise, and very expensive.

The only name I'd consider is the only real originator of all this overhyped "The Secret" lie - Emilè Couet. He is largely forgotten, but maybe he has a book on hypnosis? This man is a true genius from what I've read and offers the only workable law of attraction method, which is very simple. He gives the true reason why it works, in short a placebo (confirmation bias). What do you think?

Self-hypnosis can also help - but like meditation, this of course requires practice or guidance.

In most cases, of course, inpatient therapy with benzos is used.

Acupuncture and attending a self-help group also have a supportive effect.

In any case, this is a longer process that takes a lot of energy - but it is definitely worth it.

Some people swear by kava the herbal tea as a natural xanax-like thing but I found it made me like, more depressed. But it works for many folks. Good luck!

This is interesting, I'll have to look into it. Taking something with the effect of a benzo without actually taking a benzo sounds like a pretty good deal.

Also, your signature is 10/10.
